Jay Severin On Imus This Morning
I could not believe what I was hearing as I hardly ever agree with much of what Severin says.

Severin said he did not see how Bush could possibly win this election the way his numbers were down. He mentioned two questions in a Washington Post poll such as 51% of the respondents felt the country was headed in the wrong direction and when asked if he should be re-elected, a majority (forgot the percentage) responded to the negative.

Severin said with numbers like that and a heavy turnout, it would be very difficult for Bush to win a second term and he did not think he would win.

1. He said the same
on his radio show yesterday, it had the Freepers in an uproar. He only said that because he is from Boston was their logic.

2. What did Imus say?
Did he say, "I'm voting for Kerry but he is NOT going to win" ?

3. No, Imus agreed, then
repeated Severin's points to David Gregory later. But, Mary Matlin coming on later, so once she gets through with him, he will change his mind again.

5. Pretty sure it was 55% who thought the country

was headed in the wrong direction. Severin also said he'd bet his house on a Kerry win.

6. His sidekick was reading the new polls like LA Times
LA Times has it at 48-48 and WashPost (I believe is the one he read) said Kerry is now leading by one point, etc. Imus interrupted and said that Kerry was going to win and the sidekick said "well, looks like with numbers like this". Then he put on David Gregory (who has been kicked up oneside and down the other by Bush) and David was trying to peddle a bit for Bush but finally said that the campaign is worried about the electoral map. Said they think they have lost Ohio (so much for Zogby poll)and are looking to pick up Iowa, WI and NM to offset it, etc.

8. Darn
I have sworn off of Imus for weeks now. It would have been nice to hear all of them say that. However, it helps even with the recaps. It takes the pain of that Zogby away. If David Gregory says they think they have lost Ohio then Zogby can't be right. He had Bush up by 5 or something, right? Please let Zogby be wrong. It tees me off because all of the pollsters are headed the same way except Zogby......Get in line Zogby! ;-)

7. If Severin said he'd bet his house on a Kerry win, then he is pretty
certain.

Severin is not a fan of Bush - but can't stand Kerry. He is anti-Kerry and so wants Bush to win. So Jay in some sense is more honest (I did not say honest) than most. He is not like Hannity or Ingraham in that he will support Bush no matter what.

If he is saying that Kerry will win, I must say, he has been correct on other races. He said Romney would win in MA when polls showed otherwise - and he was right.
