Got an e-mail from Chris Dodd - wanna help Sullivan for Congress?

If we are going to make up for the redistricting in Texas we're going to need every House seat we can get. If you can contribute - we need it!

Here's the e-mail:
"Dear Friend:

I write to you with good news about my good friend, Jim Sullivan, and to ask you to help Jim one last time.

A new poll just out shows Jim trailing in his race for the 2nd Congressional District -- my old seat! -- by just 2 points.  That's right, just 2 points.  (A news story about the poll is included at the end of this email).

For those of us who know Jim well, this is really no surprise.  He has worked hard to make the case that the good people of the 2nd Congressional District want change - and he's right.  People want affordable prescription drugs, good-paying jobs, a fair tax policy, an education reform package that is fully funded, and a foreign policy that makes sense.  That's what Jim wants, and that's what I want.  But that's not what the Republican leadership in Congress has done for Connecticut - instead, they have supported every failed policy of the Bush Administration - and that's wrong.

While the poll is obviously great news, it is also the case that the Republicans are running against Jim one of the most negative campaigns in recent memory.  It's not what politics should be about.  As I say every day on the campaign trail, politics ought to be about ideas and competing visions, about debates between good people who disagree on the issues, and most of all, politics should be about the good things we can do for people.  But that's not the type of campaign the Republicans are running against Jim.  And I think that's a shame.

While Jim is working hard, he needs your help so that he can be financially competitive in these last, critically important days of the campaign.

And so, my friend, I am asking you to help put Jim Sullivan over the top in the final leg of this race.  Please visit Jim Sullivan’s website and make a contribution today.

Thank you, as always, for the support and generosity you have shown me over the years - I deeply appreciate it.

Best,

Chris Dodd"
