4. CNN has also dropped the story from the Front Page
for those who haven't been following - this is a story that the explosives were already missing when the troops arrived

9. I have been saying this for 4 years......
but ever since Bush was Selected as Prez the national media has had ADD.....they give a negative Bush story 10 minutes and then move on to Laci Peterson, Michael Jackson, John Kerry's skin color, etc....they go out of their way so that NO Bush (negative) story ends up having a Gate at the end of its name (i.e., whitewaterGate, MonicaGate, TravelGate, etc...).

5. Drudge & CNN are LYING about what an NBC report said
Edited on Tue Oct-26-04 08:29 AM by LynnTheDem
Re the missing explosives in Iraq.

NBC on telly mentioned they had an embedded reporter with the 101st AB that went to Al Qaqaa April 10, 2003, and their embed never saw any explosives.

Thing is, he and the 101stAB wouldn't have known whether they saw any or not; none of them were trained in explosives or NBC.

They were the SECOND army group to reach Al Qaqaa; the FIRST bunch, the 3rd ID, reached Al Qaqaa on April 4, 2003, and THEIR REPORT says they DID FIND the explosives.

*****

Drudge & CNN are lying about the NBC report, saying "NBC says there were no explosives at Al Qaqaa PRIOR TO the invasion". In other words, the explosives were already missing BEFORE bush launched his invasion so it ain't bush's fault.

That is definitely NOT AT ALL what NBC said.

6. I'm pissed off and confused. Why are they reporting this NBC reporters
account that the explosives were gone From CNN.com:

NBC News reported that on April 10, 2003, its crew was embedded with the U.S. Army's 101st Airborne Division when troops arrived at the Al Qaqaa storage facility south of Baghdad.

While the troops found large stockpiles of conventional explosives, they did not find HMX or RDX, the types of powerful explosives that reportedly went missing, according to NBC.

OK, so then what's the deal with the anonymous Pentagon spokesperson telling a news agency just a couple days ago that the explosives were confirmed intact after the invasion??

And what about the IAEA telling them before AND after the invasion about these explosives specifically? Does that mean THEY KNEW right from the start that they were missing?

Now we're supposed to accept an NBC "report" on this as proof the explosives weren't there when the invasion got underway? Now we're supposed to pretend that it's not the fault of this administration and listen to republicans on the TV tell us the story was "bogus"??

I don't think so.

13. The 101st AB was the SECOND GROUP
Edited on Tue Oct-26-04 08:41 AM by LynnTheDem
They reached Al Qaqaa on April 10.

They would NOT HAVE KNOWN if there were any explosives there or not.

You have to be TRAINED in explosives/NBC to be able to ID them. They aren't sticks labelled "Dyn-O-mite"; they're packets of white powder.

The NBC reporter, who was with the SECOND group, said he never saw any explosives. But he wasn't TRAINED to see them. And there are over 100 buildings at Al Qaqaa.

There was ANOTHER GROUP of US military who were the FIRST to arrive at Al Qaqaa; they arrived on April 4, 2003, and they DID SEE the explosives.

Summary:

Group 1, 3rd ID, April 4, 2003: They see the explosives and report on it; their report is dated April 5, 2003 and is avail online.

Group 2, 101st AB, April 10, 2003: They arrive at Al Qaqaa with an NBC embed reporter. Reporter says he never saw any explosives. He wouldn't know if he did or not, though.

The explosives WERE THERE on April 4, 2003; this we know is 100% proven FACT. The US military's own report proves it.

CNN is LYING about what NBC reported. It's that simple.

11. My email to CNN regarding this
Sent to Eason.Jordan@turner.com:

Sir,

Why is CNN buying into an internet rumor started by Matt Drudge quoting an embedded reporter's take on the weapons rather than trusting a Pentagon official who said the weapons were there in April when they arrived?

You guys have fallen for the oldest trick in the propoganda book! Repeat a lie often enough and it becomes the truth!

As evidence I quote the Pentagon official who spoke to the AP:

At the Pentagon, an official who monitors developments in Iraq said US-led coalition troops had searched Al-Qaqaa in the immediate aftermath of the March 2003 invasion and confirmed that the explosives, which had been under IAEA seal since 1991, were intact. Thereafter the site was not secured by U.S. forces, the official said, also speaking on condition of anonymity.

Sincerely,

Walt Starr

25. Here's a couple media reports on it...
American troops found thousands of boxes of white powder, nerve agent antidote and documents in Arabic on how to engage in chemical warfare at an industrial site south of Baghdad.

But initial testing showed the white powder was probably explosives, US officials said.

http://64.233.179.104/search?q=cache:4HlpKh0avh8J:www.straitstimes.asia1.com.sg/iraqwar/story/0,4395,181389,00.html+white+powder+found+is+explosives%3B+2003+Iraq&hl=en

Similar false alarms were raised over vials of white powder found in the Qa Qaa factory complex on 4th April, which turned out to be common explosives...

The army's report is online here somewhere...

17. Gone from CNN
The story is gone from the "top stories" part of CNN's webpage. I haven't seen it anywhere else either, at least not in a prominent place. Maybe they finally realized it was nothing.

It pisses me off to no end that these news organizations can report on anything they want to "get the story first" and then simply remove it and show no accountability when they get called on the bullshit they post.

26. Which report?
Edited on Tue Oct-26-04 09:28 AM by LynnTheDem
The one CNN and Drudge are lying about isn't on the NBC site, as it was only reported by NBC on the TV. I have the video link here, brb...

I'm back. Here's the NBC video link that CNN & Drudge are lying about.

http://video.msn.com/video/p.htm?t=1&i=cdd38e36-17b4-4158-9967-d13e7832a51a

This video report says their reporter never saw any explosives ON APRIL 10, 2003.

1. He wouldn't know if he saw any or not.

2. The FIRST MILITARY GROUP went to Al Qaqaa on APRIL 4, 2003 and they DID FIND the explosives.

So we KNOW for a FACT with the US military's OWN REPORT (and many media reports) that explosives WERE THERE on April 4, 2003 and that is AFTER bush invaded Iraq.

But CNN and Drudge are saying NBC's video says the explosives at Al Qaqaa were removed BEFORE bush invaded. That is NOT what NBC says, and it is NOT what happened, coz WE KNOW those explosives were there on April 4, 2003.

hope this helps.

I've been keeping an eye on this, and every chance he gets, Bill Hemmer makes a point of the NBC story. This guy actually LOOKS desperate in his efforts to prop up his "god" in the White House.

Went so far as to accuse Kerry of making a "grave error" for calling Shrub on the high explosives story.

These Media Whores are enough to make you gag or :puke:

They are changing guard now and the new anchors are already on it as well. Ack!!! :grr: ...saying their poll shows Bush leads Kerry by "nearly" 20 points on the War on Terrorism. :grr:
