Great news - Just voted in Florida |
|
and a lady in line told me that she was voting for the first time in her life because OPRAH told her to. I am assuming OPRAH is pro-Kerry, but this is huge. Her audience will go vote if she tells them to...

1. Oprah is very pro women's rights. |
|
In the show she had she all but asked her audience members to vote for Kerry.

2. I am glad Oprah is on our side, but |
|
it's really scary that people vote because Oprah (or anyone else, for that matter) told them so.

I think that if people deeply identify with her (and many do), then it makes sense for them to take her advice when she points to a candidate that shares their common values.

3. I don't think Oprah told her audience who she was endorsing or how to |
|
vote, but she implied it, from what I've heard. "Don't vote at your own peril, ladies...." She was speaking of preserving the right of control over our own bodies.
P Diddy (P Daddy?) was also on the show, as was Drew Barrymore & others. They were all wearing "Vote!" t-shirts.
