3. It would help if you told us where you saw it and what it is
My guess is it's the long since discredited rumor that there's a monument to Kerry in a Hanoi museum, supposedly from his days as a war protestor. What it really is, as far as I know, is a very small tribute to him for his work in the 1990s to resolve the MIA issue and normalize US-Vietnam relations.

But I guess that's nuance, and everyone knows real red-blooded Americans don't do nuance. They like their truth simple and straight, even if it's not true.

4. I have gotten some freeper email mention it
At first I thought it had to do with the MIA search that Kerry and McCain did in the 90s

5. Anybody who believes that shit
should watch Going Up River - I was really awed by that movie, it was powerful and great. I would love to see more of the passion in Kerry now that he had back then though, but he was one smart dude and had Nixon in fear of him. He really did change this country's attitude towards the war. What he did was absolutely 100% correct and he no doubt saved thousands of lives with what he did.

The movie is really great - people who say this shit have no idea what they are talking about - and no doubt, most of them probably have never worn the uniform like Kerry did.

7. It's pretty dumb
Kerry and VVAW (Vietnam Vets Against the War) met in Paris with the Viet Cong leadership to try to get some POWs released. It resulted in considerable easing of tensions and there were a few token acts of detente that paved the way for peace talks.

The Swifties now claim that they were "giving aid and comfort" to the VC.

I know ... it's an enormous stretch. Ultimately, Kerry will come out of this looking like a hero. But it's a hot-button issue with a lot of veterans.

On the other hand, with all this "Hanoi John" crap, they've probably completely deflated the issue. All they've done has been to prove that they are a bunch of mean, bitter old partisans.

16. Remember that old TV show, "Soap?" You know the old grandpa?
The one who still thought he was in WWII? It's a common stereotype -- old guys whose glory days were their youth as soldiers, and who can't get past it. (I have a neighbor who's the same way -- you can start out talking about his tulips and in two sentences he's talking about his old days as a marine.)

This is the Vietnam equivalent emerging, except you're right -- they are bitter, nasty old partisans still blaming anybody else for their experiences except the US government.

9. It's pathetic spin
Even head liar Corsi admits they can't prove any direct connection between Kerry and communists, only that Kerry's (and several million other Americans') goal of ending the war aligned with the North's.

Well good, then. I guess I have the same goals as they have. What's wrong with chatting about some lame attempt at an "October Surprise"? I think it just makes them look desperate.

Nothing like that ever lasts on here long without being put in it's place. You act like we're super-impressionable and would turn on account of a WorldNetDaily article.

Thanks for showing you're wiser than a good number of us, because you can see through the lies, and apparently we can't.

As opposed to giving it free reign, that is. You can't shout down every single person who uses the Internet, Mr. Dem. And any of them can go read the article on WorldNetDaily.

The "documentation" begins with:

"Possibly produced by an agency of Hoai Phong District Party Committee..."

Give me a few minutes and I'll produce a document that shows Bush once gave a blow job to prince Bandahar, possibly produced by the Saudi Intelligence Agency.

17. It's Swift Boat Liar- Now Republican BS about Kerry being a Hero to the
Communist Vietnamese. They lie and say that his picture hangs in a place of honor at the War Crimes (now War Remnants) Museum in Ho Chi Minh City.

In reality, the photo does exist but it is a 1993 photo captioned (Some Vietnamese leader) meeting with Congressmen and Veterans delegation. For some reason Kerry, the hero of the Vietnamese Communists doesn't get his name mentioned in the caption, nor does he have a photo from the Vietnam War Era. I mean John Kerry was on national tv for 5 minutes and in every single American newspaper, but the Vietnamese couldn't get a photo of their "hero" until 1993 ???

Then you find out that in the same museum their are pictures of Jane Fonda (photo taken 1972) taken with Madam Binh captioned Madam Binh meets with Jane Fonda. And David Wilson (I have no idea who this guy is, why the heck did the Vietnamese honor him, photo taken 1965) burning his draft card captioned David Wilson burning his draft card.

Yet John Kerry, which the Swift Boat Liars indicate and the Bush team has uttered over and over is held in high esteem by the Vietnamese, an obvious lie and attempt at distortion.

that's only going to appeal to the rabid right-wingers who've already decided how they're voting. No serious media outlet is going to pay attention.

24. Sounds like the "V V's against John Kerry" crowd
They're so into that idea, they've had bumper stickers made up. I couldn't believe it when I saw one in Milwaukee.

By the way, I don't think anything put out by the likes of Ted Sampley and Jerome Corsi is going to have legs. If it was, it would have by now.

This is old stuff. They got nothing. Just a twist on Kerry going to Paris on his honeymoon and talking to the Paris Peace Talks delegates in an attempt to get the POWs home sooner. O'Neill and Co. try to put the exact opposite spin on Kerry's action, but what Kerry said he was doing and what we know about the man match. I don't think the mainstream press is going to go there, the same way they won't go seriously for calling the current administration evil until there is no way to escape it.
