My local newspaper in KY endorsed Kerry!!!

Now this paper doesn't have a huge circulation . What makes this so interesting is, this paper has endorsed just about every Repuke candidate in Kentucky.

I was waiting for them to endorse Bush. I told my wife that I was going to cancel my subscription if they did, but they surprised me. Go figure!

Kerry Offers Country Chance for Change

Editorial

Messenger-Inquirer

Four years ago, we endorsed George W. Bush in his race for president against Al Gore, primarily because we believed Bush when he said he would be a uniter, not a divider.

We bought into the idea of compassionate conservatism.
Unlike the president, however, we can admit when we are wrong. And were we ever wrong.

Bush hasn't been able to bring Democrats and Republicans -- or the entire country, for that matter -- together working toward united goals. He hasn't tried, really. His "my way is the only way" approach has alienated people at home and abroad. He hasn't even accomplished much with a Congress that, for most of his term, has been controlled by Republicans.

And there's been very little compassion in his policy decisions, and even less conservatism, outside of social issues designed to play to the most strident aspect of his base.

4. My, that IS fabulously written, isn't it?
The analogy of him being unable to ask for directions would be a perfect sneaky hook to win over more women, too. (Some of us have been using this stereotypic uber-male analogy for awhile about this mob; that's the kind of thing that can really stick.)

What's great about this article is that it's measured and qualified, hitting a very common-sensical chord about the differences of the two, and I think it'll ring true. The tone of the piece was very straightforward, too, and that is priceless. The opening few paragraphs are perfect.

As Lincoln (a Kentucky native, by the way) said: "As Kentucky goes, so goes the Union."

I've been reading this paper for over 30 years, and this is the best endorsement that I've ever read from them.

8. Won't help in the Presidential race in Ky ....
but it is good to see people admitting the errors of their way. I would suspect that other papers in battleground states are experiencing the same about face. They're actually saying " * is THAT bad!"
...O...

10. That's wonderful!
Ugh, they endorsed Bunning though? Ick.

I feel pretty good about Kentucky being closer than people think. I think it will still go Bush, but hey I can dream right? I do however have great hopes for Mongiardo to win! I never gave up on him even when he was 26 points back so that has to be a sign.
