New Orleans Times-Picayune chooses to endorse
No one for President. I take that as good news. A condemnation of the actions of the last four years. Actions they choose not to endorse.

1. Exactly
A "no endorsement" message is more of a negative endorsement for Bush than anything else.

2. Same with the Cleveland (OH) Plain Dealer. . .
and the Tampa (FL) Tribune.

4. In a way, it's good
After all, they're not endorsing four more years of Stupidhead.

But in a much larger way, these papers are doing the communities they're supposed to be serving an incredible disservice. They are abdicating their responsibility as a corporate media citizen, and failing their reading public. Newspapers aren't banks. Nor are they hardware stores. They serve an important function in their communities, that of providing a voice for the citizenry, and a platform for community action. By refusing to endorse one candidate or another, they're exhibiting a yellow streak of cowardice down their back as wide as their editorial page. "We just can't tell" isn't an acceptable answer for the corporate citizen that is supposed to be the best-informed and most knowledgeable bunch in town.

Cowards. Frauds.

5. Wow, I lived in New Orleans in 2000....
It was PAINFUL to see so many B/C signs (except the Quarter) and even more painful to read the "endorsement" of the T-P for Bush. I am really surprised they didn't swoon all over him again. I think this is good news.
