Worldnetdaily tinfoil hat ALERT! They're reaching, folks!

MISSION: IMPLAUSIBLE

The first documentary evidence that Vietnamese communists were directly steering John Kerry's antiwar group Vietnam Veterans Against the War has been discovered in a U.S. archive, according to a researcher who spoke with WorldNetDaily.

One freshly unearthed document, captured by the U.S. from Vietnamese communists in 1971 and later translated, indicates the Viet Cong and North Vietnamese delegations to the Paris peace talks that year were used as the communications link to direct the activities of Kerry and other antiwar activists who attended.

Kerry insists he attended the talks only because he happened to be in France on his honeymoon and maintains he met with both sides. But previously revealed records indicate the future senator made two, and possibly three, trips to Paris to meet with Viet Cong leader Madame Nguyen Thi Binh then promote her plan's demand for U.S. surrender

Here's the "document". Not the fonts were obviously prepared by a modern word processor. Of course, there is no direct link to the claims made that this is a "translation" of a captured document. Also recall that Nixon was trying to destroy the anti-war movement at the time.

Edited on Tue Oct-26-04 02:36 PM by TaleWgnDg
and it's not written in what is typical English by non-Americans. Instead, it's written in American English, not British English (or European-style English), plus it's got some strike-overs that are suspect and there's a hell of a lot of speculation attached to this or that inference, and on and on and on . . . :wtf:

5. The evil commies won the war, and 30 years later...
...they are just another trade partner and everything is hunky dory...proving once and for all that the war was a goddam waste of American and Vietnamese human life...

THE WHITE HOUSE
Office of the Press Secretary

For Immediate Release October 3, 2001

STATEMENT BY THE PRESIDENT
Today's Senate action to establish a bilateral trade agreement with Vietnam is a significant step toward strengthening the ties between our two countries and promoting strength and stability in this important region. The agreement will provide American companies with access to a large and growing market and, through the reforms it promotes, it will help create a more prosperous and engaged Vietnam. The trade agreement also brings hope for improving human rights. I look forward to signing this legislation into law.

12. our USA relationship w/ former war enemies is not unique to
Vietnam. Look at history. We warred against France. Then France won the American Revolution for us. Then the Brits again were at war w/ us (War of 1812). Throw in Spain as well. Japan. And all of Axis Europe. How about our trading partners now?

How about the former USSR? Hell, according to Bushie, he's in bed w/ Pootie-Poot!

Again, it's not merely Vietnam. However, all of this doesn't negate the bald-assed fact that, yes, the entire Vietnam War was a useless and futile exercise in killing to the tune of hundreds of thousands. That's loud and clear.

6. "Freshly unearthed" - from where, some freeper's imagination?
"One freshly unearthed document, captured by the U.S. from Vietnamese communists in 1971 and later translated, indicates the Viet Cong and North Vietnamese delegations to the Paris peace talks that year were used as the communications link to direct the activities of Kerry and other antiwar activists who attended."

Captured in 1971 - and not used to discredit Kerry then? When Richard Nixon was trying desperately to destroy this hated young upstart who was everything Nixon was not and who was leading the fight against Nixon's refusal to end the war as he had promised 3 years earlier?

This doesn't pass even the least rigorous tests of plausibility.

17. Mighty fine grammar for an asian translation
I work with translated documents all of the time -- and the grammar in every translated document I have seen in five years runs from marginal to hilarious. This is authentic and I'm a ballerina!

19. I don't get it -- they're saying this "shows" something...?
Even IF this is a translation of a document "the US" (who?) "captured from Vietnamese communists" (where? who?), I don't see how it shows that whoever wrote it directed anybody in the US to do anything.
