Is optimism our friend?
I've been hopeful for four years, but I am actually starting to BELIEVE! So much so, that even though I live in Virginia, I will be driving folks to the polls next Tuesday simply to ensure that JFK's popular vote total is as high as it can possibly be; and secondly, to make it as close a statewide race as possible, even here in Bush country. Hell, if Virginia is within a few percentage points, then that smirking dry drunk can pack up his Oedipal issues along with the rest of his shit and head back to the Texas shithole he calls a ranch right now!

3. Optimism is my only option
I've been completely pissed off for four years, and am now swinging wildly between hope and despair. If Bush* is reinstalled it's going to get very ugly, and I don't even want to think about it.

4. yeah- I always go with optimism.
Skepticism and Pessimism have their strengths, but they are basically defensive positions. Optimism can actually change things for the better.

5. I don't know...
... I know plenty of people in Ohio who dislike Bush and are convinced he won't win.

Is it coincidence that they do nothing to swing the state?

7. Optimism + Diligence = We Win
Don't fall for the whole "we need to be pessimistic to retain our edge" crap.

8. Optimism works for me!
If Bush wins, I figure there's plenty of time to learn to deal with it. Why start now?

9. Optimism is okay but we can't afford to be overconfident.
I now believe that Kerry will win,
but I also see a nasty fight ahead
thru November 2.

10. People want to vote for a winner
They can smell desperation and fear, and they can sense optimism.

13. I agree. I feel like I'm seeing a bandwagon effect, esp. with the rally...
The rally with Clinton in Philadelphia.

11. I like to follow the adage "hope for the best, prepare for the worst"...

or, for this election: assume JK is winning, but do everything we can to make sure he does!

As someone else said here, optimism plus diligence. Or I might say optimism plus preparedness (or cautiousness).

ON EDIT: The other day, I put it slightly differently. I was going through a rough patch, and posted "I'm a wreck, but determined!" :)

This is as simple as I can make my personal formula.
