I don't know whether this spaketh came from Odin, the ghost of Nostradamus, or some consciousness in charge of universal orderliness, but Kerry is not only going to win, he's going to win huge.

I've had about four "spakeths" in my life, regarding things I couldn't have possibly known about in advance, and they all came to be. (None of them had anything to do with politics.)

If this proves to be a false "spaketh," you can all call me an asshole and I'll be happy to agree with you.

But for now, stick with me on this one. Kerry is going to win and he's going to win so damn big that even the supreme court won't be able to interfere.

If so...sign me up with Satan!

And that's not an insult. It's a compliment. For those of you who aren't "Dilbert" fans, you have to be a "Dilbert" aficionado to get it. If you're not, try reading the comics and turn off network news. You'll learn a lot more.

8. Antigone, my reply might give away who I am to people who know me,
However, with any luck, they're either not members of DU, or they'll miss this thread. So here goes:

1. The death of a friend's (healthy) father before we knew about it.

2. Six numbers that I gave to a gambling friend that turned out to be numbers, (the next day), of six winning horses at Belmont. (I had no idea what the numbers meant at the time I gave them to him.)

3. A decision not to go to work on the day that there was a multi-car accident during a snowstorm on a highway that I took to work every day and at the time I usually was at that spot.

4. This one is too personal. Sorry.

I don't claim to have ESP. These things happened and I have no idea why, nor can I control them. However, I did have a Kerry "spaketh." Maybe it was just wishful thinking. Who the hell knows?

the way I see it, everyone, no matter how faithful they claim to be, is at least 20% agnostic.

I guess that means that guys like you are the only people who believe what they say they believe, 100%.

(Of course, that's just my opinion. No offense and 100% respect for people of any faith who read this thread).

19. I had an experience like that, too, wherein during the snows of
the "Storm of the Century" in March of 1993, I suddenly picked up the phone and called an elderly member of our church choir.

(People who know me know I have a problem with phones, and will drive across town rather that telephone anyone.)

After a while, this dear woman answered the phone, and long story short, she was in accute kidney failure and the sherriff's people and EMS had to break down her door to get her to the hospital and the dialysis that saved her life.

So, how am I feeling now?

Very, very hopeful, and in fact breathing more freely than I have in a long time.

4. Anybody remember the guy who posted in the meeting room
about the Ouija Board session (pre-DNConv) where Captain Howdy said that Kerry would pick the best running mate and that the junta would try to use the Emergency Broadcast System (with unknown efficacy) to shape the election?

Since EBS has been renamed by the FCC, I always thought that, if the spirit-world were to be accepted by the reader (and this reader doesn't but who cares?) Captain Howdy was just trying to interpret for the DUer something similar to EBS (orange alerts? Sinclair Broadcast Group?).

Anyway, I hope your premonition meets reality with a 100% correlation.

44. After the first debate...
I 'felt' as if I were placed back into the universe/reality I was in before November 7th, 2000. It was wonderful, because it was like 4 years of hell and heavy weight were lifted off, especially the day after. I'd forgotten that I wasn't always this hornery, raging, ranting, foul-mouthed beyotch. I'd forgotten what it was like not to have the twisting pain in my gut. Anyway, I've felt peaceful ever since. No premonitions. Just peace. Don't know what that means, but I will take it!

10. Great omen... I had a dream last week...
Ever since then, I've ceased to worry about the election. In the dream, I am working for the Kerry campaign and we are at HQ on election night. There is an inexplicable media blackout. Nothing on TV, radio, Internet at all about the election. No one at HQ knows what is going on with the election at all. Finally, JK comes in beaming and tells us it's over and he won with 54% of the vote. I think this dream foretells a Kerry landslide victory and the media blackout represents the fact that they will be completely blindsided by his margin of victory.

I'm not very comfortable with those I've had in the past. To tell you the truth, they're scary. But there is one thing I do feel deep in my gut. When it happens, it's not something from which I'm supposed to personally profit.

Maybe this one is just a wish-driven fantasy, but it really did feel like my past ones that were accurate. As I said, if I'm wrong, I'll be the first one to call myself an asshole.

23. I first met John Kerry in 2002. I was campaign manager for a Dem
congressional candidate and we were at a Dem luncheon. I went over to speak to the Senator and asked if we could get pictures taken with him. Now this will sound stupid but as he took my hand I felt a bolt of energy through my body and simultaneously thought" This is the next President of the United States". I came home and told my husband that I had met the next president. I was not worried at all during the primaries as I "knew" Kerry would get the nomination. I swing back and forth during the general election but If I think back to 2004, I "know" Kerry is going to win. BTW, I guessed the outcome of 2000 but I didn't understand it at the time. I was washing dishes and had a sort of vision as I looked out my window.I saw Gore winning but Bush taking the oath of office. I mentioned it to friends at the time and no one was really certain what it meant. But we know now ,don't we? I sure hope I'm right this time!

but last night, and for the first time in my life, I had a dream that I was flying. I have always wanted to have this dream, and it wasn't actually as I envisioned it in my wakeful moments, but here it is: I was aboard a flying dog (wolf?) and before he became airborne, I had to run alongside, and then at the last minute before he took off, I jumped aboard and held on tight! In my dream I could feel the gravitational pull as we ascended, once in the air it was exhilharating.

that if * he would get us into the worst we war we had ever seen. I don't feel that's actually come to pass yet, so I'm sorta spending time with that weird and uncomfortable sensation of waiting for the other shoe to drop.

Edited on Tue Oct-26-04 09:19 PM by Carolab
I had never met her before (my other doc changed clinics) and from the moment she walked in I felt "bonded" to her. It was my birthday and she said hers was just a few days before. She asked me how I was and I told her I had been very depressed because of this election. She started talking right away about how much she hates *Co and said "I don't know why, but I still have just this little flicker of hope" and I said that I did too. We agreed that we should ALL, collectively, direct our energy...

So, let's all join hearts hands together in spirit, and visualize Kerry! Pray for a secular future!!!

P.S. She also advised a glass of wine -- doctor's orders, of course.

53. I believe they do -- but only if the events are massive enough
Are you familiar with the Global Consciousness Project at Princeton? There has been research in non-ordinary consciousness ongoing there for decades -- I remember reading about their dream research back in the 70's -- but a few years ago, they decided to set up Random Event Generators around the world. They analyze the data from these REG's for non-random patterns, which they then attempt to correlate with global events. Their idea is that any correlations would demonstrate the existence of a global consciousness.

Immediately after 9/11, they found that not only did their data show significant non-random patterns surrounding the events, but those patterns actually began several hours before the first plane struck the towers.

I don't altogether accept the idea of a global consciousness, so instead I think of things like this as "a great disturbance in the force." Events of that order of magnitude really do cast a shadow before them that may be widely perceived before the fact. (Dramatic but more localized occurrences, like deaths and accidents, may be perceived by those few people they directly involve.)

Here's a link to the official write-up of the research -- it's very technical, but the main point is clear. If you look around on the Net, you can probably find a more popular version.

45. There's this concept in Oriental Philosophy
Called the "Mandate of Heaven." The idea is that Heaven (Providence, energy, Higher Consciousness, or whatever) is either upon a person, country, business, etc., or it isn't. Clearly Kerry now has the Mandate of Heaven. * doesn't, and I don't believe he ever had it as he took office with guile, subtrafuge, dishonesty, and lies, all of which continue to this day.

This is not a religious philosophy, but a way of seeing the movement of energy in our world.
