Theory on the "close polls", "tight horserace" etc. |
|
:tinfoilhat:
So I was reading in the paper today how the election has been an economic windfall for media outlets and it occured to me that a tight race and 50/50 polls make for better ratings.
Maybe it really will be Kerry in a landslide and this tight race nonsense is just so the Media can squeeze more bucks from the politicos.
That certainly explains some of the disconnect between what is being reported and what we're seeing on the ground. Aren't most of the really big polls sponsored or paid for by news organizations?

1. From your lips to Goddesses ears, baby. |

I like to think the same, that a Kerry blow-out just doesn't get people's attention as much...

2. makes sense, but I just wonder with all the fear mongering Bush |
|
is doing will his "security mom" base stay home?
after all, if you are buying all the crap they're throwing would you want to be in a place with a large crowd?
especially since they have said the terraists are going to try and disrupt the elections, I think it may backfire on em hehehehe

Pretty much, except for Rasmussen and Zogby. All the others are connected with publications, so they're automatically suspect.
But, I don't trust Zogby, since the majority of his polling is done via the Internet.
I trust Rasmussen more, but I don't know anything about the methods they use.
But, I still say numbers, they're essentially meaningless, and they're not even close to the great big unassailable win John Kerry is going to score next week.
NEXT WEEK????
Just think - in eight days, we'll be dancing in the streets...................

4. This makes a lot of sense |

And does help explain the incomprehensible disconnect between what the media is saying and the vibe on the street. Who wants to watch a fight that's over before it starts? Let the illusion live -- it will make the smackdown all that much sweeter.

I used to work in radio commercial scheduling. Political season was always a nightmare, but this year has been particularly nuts.
That article just kind of put things into focus.
It's always about the money isn't it?

5. I definitely think the horse race plays to the media |

who want to hype up their own election day coverage. No one wants to watch a ballgame when you know the winner already. Whoring at it's finest! We can do this.
