You know what? Bush IS a uniter.
I've done two things today that I would never have done in a million years if Bush was not president: I watched an Eminem video, and I read an Andrew Sullivan column from beginning to end.

I don't get Eminem. Never have, never will. Followed the whole homophobia/misogyny controversy but figured he wasn't that much worse than any other rap artist. Find the whole video rather terrifying, but have nevertheless watched it 3 times now because even if I know that I have no future whatsoever as an anarchist or an Eminem fan, it does somehow make me feel better.

Similarly, just abotu everything Andrew Sullivan says on his way to endorsing Kerry is appalling to me (going to war in Iraq was the right thing to do? Even though there were no WMDs? Because America can use its mighty power for good instead of evil if only we have the right leadership? No, no, NO, you idiot! Throw the fucking One Ring into Mount Doom already, don't you get it?!) I put myself through it because all of a sudden now, that asshole is on my side.

I have also whiled away many a minute listening to the Honky Tonkers' for Truth's excellent country song "Takin' my Country Back," though I am not a country fan, and though I am sure that most of the same people that song was designed to reach are also against gay marriage to the death.

I don't know exactly what this means, but I gotta believe it's bad for Bush. He's got the Coalition of the Billing, we have teh Coalition Of People Who For Once In Their Lives Are Angrier At Bush Than At Each Other. Ours is bigger.

For what it's worth,

1. I was discussing this today while early voting at the poll
in FL: We Dems, progressives, Greens, and liberals all agreed that, in his own stupid way, Bush did unite all of us together.

To get him the hell out of office. :hi:

2.  Armies of black hoodies will march to the polls
united for the first time in one driving mission. One goal. For a brief shining moment it feels pretty damn good. :)

3. OK, what is with the hoodies?
Is that a rapper thing or an anarchist thing or an Eminem thing or what?

I'll march to the polls but I'm damned if I'll wear a hoodie,

5. Dude, I have seen it.
I'm asking whether the black hoodies mean something or whether the guy directing the video just liked the color palette.

C ya,

11. Bush is definitely a uniter
I have never seen the Democratic Party as united as it is today.

It brings a tear to my eye.

Thank you, President Bush, for being such a flaming asshole rat bastard. I never thought I would see the day that the Democratic Party matched the Republicans dollar for dollar in a presidential race.

13. well, more than 70% of Canadians don't want him elected ...
That seems to apply across Canada -- east and west, north and south, French and English, aboriginals, prairie people and Torontonians -- even in Alberta, the most Texas-like province. BC is angry because of the softwood lumber. The cattle producers are furious about the border closure ... the PEI potato farmers too. Quebec's upset because he dissed their pharmaceutical industry. The North's furious about his refusal to act on global warming. The Maritimers still remember that Bush scurried off without responding after he heard about the dead and wounded Canadians from that "friendly fire" incident in Afghanistan.

I've never seen this country agree so much on anything!

By the way, PA -- I've officially got hold of that book we were talking about. DU-mail me and it's yours!
