As of yesterday, 29% of all Oregon ballots were in
http://www.sos.state.or.us/elections/nov22004/g04_balret.xls

We are running 3% ahead of the last Presidential Election.

Not bad, but not good enough.

Roll 'em on in, folks.

And if you haven't received your ballot, contact your county elections office IMMEDIATELY:

One last item:

VOTE NO ON 36!

2. How does that work?
Is every voter sent a ballot or do people have to request them?

3. Oregon is vote-by-mail
Registered voters are mailed ballots.

4. Thanks
As a registered voter, what do I have to do?
If your registration is current, your ballot packet will automatically be mailed to you. Inside the packet you will find the ballot, a secrecy envelope and a return envelope. Once you vote the ballot, place it in the secrecy envelope and seal it in the pre-addressed return envelope. Be sure to sign the return envelope on the appropriate line. After verifying that the return envelope has your name and current address, simply return the ballot either by mail or at a designated drop site.

5. And you know
I do sort of miss some of the civic good feeling that I used to get going to a local school, preschool, synagogue, whatever, and placing my vote in that great ritual with my fellow citizens (and even further back, accompanying my father when he voted back in the 1960s, when I was a whipper),

but vote by mail has worked very well for me and, I think, for the state.
