REPORT INTIMIDATING POLL WATCHERS!
Because of a thread in freeperville about freepers signing up to be poll watchers to look for fraudulent DEMOCRATIC voters, I wanted to warn everyone to look out for poll watchers who act in an intimidating way, cross the boundaries in any way, or do anything you might consider inappropriate for a neutral poll watcher.

I voted early, so I don't have to worry about it. I didn't see any poll watchers when I voted.

Poll watchers and "challengers" can challenge a private citizen's right to vote. SO it's a good idea to take a picture I.D. with you, as well as your voter registration card. BE PREPARED TO PROVE YOU HAVE THE RIGHT TO VOTE!!!!! Don't let them catch you with your guard down. AND DON'T LET THEM INTIMIDATE YOU! You are an American citizen with full right to vote...no one has the right to interfere with that in any way!

Complain about any poll watchers or challengers who get out of line! Seek assistance from others who seem sympathetic (Dems?). And most importantly, complete your vote!

1. Thanks. I'm going to help with "voter relief" on Election Day
But to be honest, in my neck of the woods any freeper who tried intimidating somebody would really, really wish they had stayed home!

2. 1-866-OUR-VOTE
Bring your cell phone or borrow somebody else's. Call this Election Protection hotline, volunteer lawyers can help if you are challenged or harassed.

3. Damn

I wish someone would challenge me, but seeing as I am a white male and won't be holding hands with another white male I am probably safe.

10. Oppression sucks, don't it?!
You could always borrow someone of an oppressed minority, preferably male!

4. There was a roving poll watcher where I voted in NM
A local judge, and he looked perfectly capable of booting any freepers he found squarely in their corpulent rumps and getting them the hell out of the way.

I sinceely hope all the other polling places have tough old buzzards just like him.

6. Local Party HQ

Call your local Democratic party HQ. They should all have "lawyers on call" for election day. These are people that want to help, and can help.

7. The law...
It is my understanding of the law that poll watchers cannot challenge a private citizens right to vote, unless the poll watcher has personal knowledge that the person is ineligible to vote. Randomly targeting citizens is against the law.

13. Exactly correct
in fact, it is a misdemeanor offense to challenge a voters without justification.

And the Dems will have lawyers aplenty. If there's no Democratic representative at your polling place call the local Dem office or that 800 number

9. BUT
While poll watchers can challenge a person's right to vote, we do not have to show them ID or anything else. We have to answer to the poll WORKERS after the poll watchers complain. Don't get caught up in proving your right to be there to anyone but the people employed by the board of elections, and watch out for official-looking documentation from poll watchers when they try to sucker you.
