2. I'm watching larissa
Just posted a dupe thread. Sorry!

Yeah, can you believe Murkowski mentioned baseball twice during her opening statement?

Now they're harping on Knowles' age? He's 61.

4. Quick
Someone call Frank. TOny is being not so nice to his little appointed princess. Makes me ashamed to live up here. We have never had an elected senator the first time around.

5. Loved it when the audience laughed at Princess Lisa about phone calls
Apparently Alaskans are being bombarded by phone advertisements for this campaign. The moderator, a TV anhcor, asked a question via his wife, "Will you pledge to stop the phone calls?"

Lisa went first and mumbled reluctantly, finally offering a wimpy, "I don't rely on that as much as he does." The audience howled in disagreement. Lil Lisa was obviously embarrassed.

Tony smacked her down with a beautiful "diplomatic answer" assessment, then said he would not agree to stop calling because it was part of a normal campaign. Then he turned toward the host and told him to make sure to give pay raises to the Channel 2 staff via all the TV money from this senate campaign. Wonderful.

Geez, now Lisa stumbled thru another baseball reference. "What team would you be on, Daschle or Frist?" Tony:"I'll be on Alaska's team." The audience loved it.

Now Lisa fumbled the "biggest mistake you've made" question, something about a damn gas station. The audience roared in laughter again.

Debate to Tony.

8. saw the end
I've never seen either of them. But wow, she's a snippy little bitch. She might has well have said "you have to march in lock-step or they'll eat your babies". That right there would make me not vote for her, if I ever had a mind to vote for a Republican which I never have. Good luck you guys!

10. She trails him badly in favorability numbers
Even in a pure red state. Although somehow her favorable numbers have crept toward 50/50 lately.

I agree, the reasons are obvious. She doesn't have a pleasant look to begin with, and it only gets worse when you're treated to the words and tone.

11. Yeah
well if you have ever had the misfortune of having to talk to her in person, she's even ickier than you could imagine. All skiny boney maroney with a Cruela Deville face. Plus she spews rhetoric at an alarming rate and asks stupid questions about physics and engineering then nods her head when you give her an example that she obviously cannot understand. Plus she hangs around with the Tom whats his name senator from Virginia who is partial to alligator skinned pointy toed cowboy boots. A truly vile creature.

12. You should write her campaign literature
Actually, you already have. That paragraph should suffice.

6. Alaska debate
I didn't like that Lisa had her cronies in the Egan Center cheering for her even as she stumbled along. Tony had plenty of applause too.. but you could tell Lisa's crowd was trying to bail her out of some of her crappy answers.

*** :) When they told her to ask Governor Knowles any question she wanted, she said in a very snippy tone:

.."So if you went to the Senate, would you represent Daschle or would you represent Frist?"

Tony said ..."I would represent Alaskans"

The place went WILD!! :) :) :)

She also screwed up royally on the stem cell question and had to be corrected by Tony on gun control laws.. :eyes:

9. That was amazing she screwed up the gun control law
After trying to lecture Tony a couple of times; "if you ever become a senator and understand the rules..."

And what the hell was that answer on trying to overrule the DC no-firearm law? "In Congress we have a unique relationship with the people of the District of Columbia,..." She basically implied Congress could dictate to them whenever it sees fit. Tony properly jumped in and emphasized Article 10 of the Constitution, that states can make their own choices.

I heard the Murkowski cronies. When Tony received applause it was understandable and spontaneous. Sometimes they yelled for her even after she flubbed the entire response.

BTW.. it's GREAT seeing someone else from Anchorage on here! :) I saw someone from Nikiski earlier today, and there's a few Alaskans that post over at the state section.

14. There are many Alaskans who post in DU
Sorry to barge in here. But come to think of it, I haven't seen posts from North of Denali or SitkaDem lately. North of Denali is a woman who is a motorcycle/traveling enthusiast and posted frequently in the Lounge. SitkaDem is a very politically aware student who used to post heavily in GD and Politics and Campaigns.

I traveled thru Alaska a few summers ago. One of the great trips of my life. Drove to Prince Rupert, then the inland passageways tour of Ketchikan, Sitka, Juneau, Skagway before leaving the ship with my car/camper and touring the mainland for two months. Only problem: your creatively muddy and uneven roads were unfair to my old pull camper, knocking it completely off the axle near Tok! I limped home and bought a new one:)
