This out to keep a few fundies home in some battleground states - could make a difference. Heh.

1. He dun October Surprised his own seff!
He has moved to a realistic position - and that's what may sink him. Fundie wackos are already complaining.

Freepers are saying he was probably misquoted. Not. He will lose a lot of votes on this one. The best news of the day! And perfect timing.

If he wanted to appear moderate, he shouldn't have sucked up to his base. Which is it chimpy? Either you're for this or against this.
I hope his konservative fundie base stays home in droves.

8. LOL! You might be thinking of...
FLIP-FLOPPER! :D

However, not to split hairs, but this was just the flip. Bush said what he had to say to keep Charlie Gibson from pinning him. It's not a real position, it's just words. The flop comes in a couple of days when the religious right wingers scream loud enough that Bush has to go back on what he said.

They'll probably send Karen Hughes out on this one, to make some off the wall comment that will divert attention from the flop.

25. No I think * did this on his own. When a person lies so much and then
suddenly tells the truth it surprises everyone, including himself. I am sure this is how he really feels and it just came out. Maybe being "plain speaking" isn't such a virtue after all? I am sure there will be a partial, limited nonretraction retraction in the next day or so. The fundies won't forgive him otherwise.

12. So I'm trying to imagine the strategy session. Why did he say this?
Is he in a strategy session ...

Rove: Georgie, we've got a serious problem. There just aren't enough rich people left in this country to get you elected. We've got to broaden your base.

Georgie: Hmmm.... I think I should go after the gay vote?

Rove: It's either them or anti-lifers. Take your pick.

=========

What are they thinking?

23. Of course, Bush will flip back to gay-bashing after the election.

Bush will only offer temporary support for civil unions.
I doubt that gays will believe Bush's lies.
Yet, fundamentalists will not be happy about this - even if they know it's a ploy.
Bush's supporters have gotten used to his real platform and his far right agenda being placed front and center.
Many conservatives may believe that America actually supports them and be furious with Bush for not publicly towing their party line of hatred.

15. You should check out the OUTRAGE on the right-wing nutfuck boards!
"If this is true I can't support Bush because of this. I'm leaving the presidential ballot blank when I vote. I can't support either of them unless Bush recants this."

"I'm sure glad I did a write-in vote for a true conservative instead of Bush. If you are in a swing state, hold your nose and vote Bush (I guess?), but if you are in a non-swing state, vote for a real conservative like Michael Peroutka and the Constitutional Party or do a write in for Pat Buchanan. We must let the Republican party know that we will not tolerate any leftward drift! This is what happens when we embrace pro-abortion, pro-homosexual, pro-Hollywierd candidates like Rudy Giuliani and Arnold Schwarzenegger! It's bad enough we have to fight off Hollywierd and the Dumbocrats but asking us to fight off the liberal leanings in OUR OWN CANDIDATE is really asking too much! I'm so mad I could spit!"

"Why has the President turned his back on the Christian community?"

26. Not freeps, a right-wing website that makes some freepers sound moderate.
It's pabaah.com, which stands for Patronizing Assholes Boycotting Anti-American Hollywood (or something like that). The purpose of the website is to shut down people like Michael Moore, Bruce Springsteen, and anyone else with a platform who doesn't agree with their super-far-right-wing agenda. It's the kind of website that if you try to visit from DU, it shuts you out automatically. You wouldn't ever want to post there -- there is no voice of moderation -- but if you want to see how crazy the right-wing can get, it's like a trip to the reptile house at the zoo.

16. Once again, this is just a LIE to get LOG CABIN REPUGS votes
thats all. And he will screw them again the way he did this time. He doesnt think anything having to do with gays is OK. The thought of homosexuality repulses this man, and he would like to see nothing short of all of us dying of AIDS so his righteous followers can rule the world.

Don't get caught up in the 'flip flip' on this, other than the fact that he has ALREADY flip flopped on this issue by saying it should be up to the states in 2000, then as soon as ONE state said they thought it was OK, he wants an amendment banning it. This latest 'unions OK' is just utter bullshit, like every other word that has spewn out of his rancid mouth.

18. btw...Impact of the gay vote....
If there are 280 million americans
and 10% (a VERY conservative # btw) are gay (28 million)
and 10% of those gays (again conservative, but probably not TOO far off base) are 'republicans' who voted for bush last time because he left civil unions up to the states
That is 2.8 MILLION POSSIBLE PEOPLE (again, conservative estimate) he pissed off with his FMA proposal who voted for him last time.

21. And remember....
the 'pollsters' dont factor in the surge in the gay voe because of the FMA. We aren't stupid and see through his lies about civil unions. Pollsters (and most americans) WAY underestimate the size of the ga community...AND WE LOVE TO VOTE! And this year there will be a surge that I think will take Kerry over the top
