FLU SHOTS: this is why kerry will win Florida. |
|
here's the scene in a math equation for ya.
seniors are arguably the most powerful voting block in the country
Seniors are especially prominent in florida.
seniors care a whoooole helluva lot about their damn flu shots.
therefore, seniors, influenced by their love of flu shots and angered by the absence of them, will vote democratic, thereby causing their powerful voting bloc to ensure that florida goes to kerry.
eh? how's my theory sound?

Someone needs to make sure all these "security moms" know that if their kids are between the ages of 2 and 5 they are SOL for getting a flu vaccine. Can only get a shot (if available) up to 23 months. Have to be 5 to get the Flu Mist. That's an awful lot of kids risking infection at daycare, preschool, playscapes. And a 2-year-old with pneumonia is a much more real risk to these "security moms" than terrorists. Maybe someone needs to make sure the seniors in line for the flu vaccines realize that their grandchildren or great-grandchildren are at risk too.

6. I've been saying from the beginning that this can mean a Kerry |

landslide. Unfortunately, most DU threads on this topic die because of the naysayers who say "Oh, seniors already vote," etc.
I can get the same GOP talking points here that I get from actual RWers.
:eyes:
The flu vaccine crisis will have an impact, though DUers don't want to believe it.

7. Seniors have yet to prove that they're a smart voting block |
|
a large plurality of them continue to vote Republican, even though many have lost pensions- they've gotten screwed on Medicare and the far right has its eyes set on destroying social security.
Given all that- and more, I don't expect many seniors to change their votes over flu shots... they'll blame the lawyers instead.
