my brother-in-law says he's voting for Bush . . . so I got pissed off . .
this is a guy who sits around all day watching cable news, and he believes everything he hears . . . he thinks the media is liberal, the Democrats are trying to steal the election, and John Kerry's heroism in Vietnam is phoney . . . so I decided to send him some resources, along with a note that talked about how his two kids will likely end up in uniform in some desert if Bush isn't removed from office . . . . see what you think . . . suggestions for additions are welcome . . .

5. True
I would start with the Republicans for Kerry stuff, myself. Let conservatives speak to conservatives. The yahoo group, the editorial from Charlie Reese if you can find it, stuff like that.

9. yeah, I know it's too much . . . my thought was . . .
that just the sheer quantity of information might say something, and maybe induce him to click on one or two links . . . he honestly believes that everyone's in favor of Bush, so the inundation was intentional . . . I know I won't change his mind, but I wanted him to know that his viewpoint isn't the only one, not by a long shot . . .

7. It's always worth a try, but my experience tells me you're wasting...
your time. People like your brother-in-law are living in a bizarre universe and generally can't be reasoned with regardless of the proof at hand. I've been having nearly the exact same discussions with most of my family and I'm resigned to the fact they're a lost cause. I still love 'em all the same, but I doubt I'll be spending a lot of time around them over the next several weeks.

8. I agree, my Father is the same way.
My Father is retired and in between golfing and fishing he watches FOX. When the Iraq war started, my Dad and I got on the subject of politics. I let him know how I felt and he said that we were lucky to have * in the White House because otherwise "we'd all be kneeling and praying to mecca by now".

12. I Have a Friend Whose Mind Was Taken Over By Faux... Very Sad Situation
This is someone who really should know better. That Faux propaganda
is the most irresistable brainwashing agent known to man. Nothing seems
to have any effect once they are exposed to enough of it.

As far as I know, there is no cure.

10. oh, I know I won't change his mind . . .
but he's convinced that Kerry supporters are a small minority, that Bush is the only choice, and that there are no good arguments to the contrary . . . I just wanted to disabuse him of that particular notion . . .

14. I've noticed this as well...
...the mindset that the Kerry supporters are a small minority. This is an obvious sign that they've been watching FOX news. FOX makes it seem like there are only a few "sane" democrats out there, while the rest of them are wild eyed, druggie, psychos who showed their insanity by protesting at the Republican National Convention.

Wait till Kerry wins this election, they'll realize that they're the minority.

17. Don't be disappointed. People I know voting Bush are completely
loyal to the point of it being pathological. I honestly think the guy could grow horns, cloven feet, and sacrifice a virgin on the steps of the White House and these idiots I work with would still bow down to the man. It's unbelievable, and the lies they tell about Kerry are REALLY unbelievable. Every time I give them something disputing what they have heard, they blow me off. Say, "Of course YOU think this is a lie - you support Kerry." The only sources they believe are the Bush team and Faux.

22. No, he doesn't believe "everything he hears" or else he would know that
Bush is a liar. He would also believe that Bush is a poor leader and that Bush mishandled the Iraq invasion. You brother only believe what he wants to believe like so many dim-witted Americans.
