THE TERRORISTS NEVER HAVE TO ATTACK US AGAIN. THEY'VE ALREADY WON.

Did it ever occur to anybody that the terrorists never have to do another thing in America? They are probably laughing their asses off at us.

If they never instigate another attack, look at all the billions and billions of dollars we're spending preparing for another one. Look at the bill for just the conventions. We were scared to death there was going to be a terrorist attempt to disrupt them. They could just be sitting with their feet up and saying, "look at those stupid Americans. Bush has got them so scared, we're costing them a fortune."

Every major event we have, we have to plan for it for months, if not years to reach a level of hope that we can believe it's reasonably safe. All this planning and spending to protect against an event for which the terrorists had planned nothing.

I almost envision them playing with us like a Halloween scare game, saying BOO!! And watching us jump.

Bush, you have twisted up America like a box of Christmas lights. And now they have just added 380 more tons of fun to our fear.

1. supposedly this is how reagan brought down the ussr
Edited on Wed Oct-27-04 04:22 AM by unblock
remember how 70 years of consistent american foreign policy and the inherent superiority of capitalism had nothing to do with the fall of the soviet union? suddenly it was all because reagan's star wars program forced russia to overspend on the military?

and yet, now one single attack is blamed for our deficit of nearly half a trillion dollars ANNUALLY?

2. The Patriot Act 1 & 2
They win --

We are allowing ourselves to be abused by the nut cases in the white house --

You are correct the terrorists (individuals or organized) don't have to do anything else -- they just sit back and let the government terrorize the citizens.

Isn't terrorisms -- terror --an emotion -- fear -- something found in the primitive part of our brain??

(Thank the computer god for spell check -- because this time of the night/early morning I cannot spell worth a damn.)

3. I dont think anyone is really scared
The dems obviously aren't because they're not voting for Bush

and I don't think the repubs are scared either, they are just using fear as a talking point to convince us Bush is awesome.

4. Nothing to fear but fear itself.....
i got in trouble a while back at work for putting together a graph showing causes of death for americans in 2001. i then looked up how much the gov't was investing in preventing these causes of death in 2002 and made another graph showing dollars/death.

i always talk about how we could benefit from some serious funding into cancer research, heart disease research, aids research, etc. people would agree with me. as soon as i mentioned the waste of money trying to keep terrorists from killing a mere 3000 people, i would get jumped on by my coworkers- called unpatriotic and the like.

every single person i know who is voting for * is doing so for these reasons:

1) they say we need someone to keep us safe from terrorists
2) they like how he believes in the sanctity of life (he's anti-abortion)
3) he believes strongly in the sanctity of marriage (he's anti-gay)

mostly it's reason #1

normally i point out at this point that timothy mcveigh was a veteran of the first gulf war, that abortion rates have gone UP since bush took office, due to his underfunding of groups that inform teens about condoms and other contraceptives, and that the divorce rate in america is so high right now that i think heterosexuals are destroying the sanctity of marriage quite nicely by themselves without the help of the LGBTQA.

then i move on to how cars kill 20 times as many people per year as terrorists did on 9/11, and that if you add up the number of people who die from cancer and heart disease in america it equals a 9/11 PER DAY.

the flu killed 20 times as many people in 2001 as terrorists did, and we had plenty of flu vaccine that year.

suicide killed 30k+ people, meaning YOU were 10x as dangerous to yourself in 2001 as were terrorists.

and that was a bumper year for terrorists.

bah! what do i expect? these are the same people who worry that i'm walking home alone at night (about 1.5 miles through a college neighborhood) then get into their cars and drive home at 2:30 in the morning when there are the highest concentration of drunk drivers on the road.

5. There is a saying
Fear knocked at the door. Fate opened it. And there was nobody there.

Then Bush was appointed president by the Supreme Court. Now fear no longer has to knock on the door.
