"Bush* went to war to become a "wartime president", says Republican,
and former U.S Ambassador, Assoc. Editor of Pittsburgh Post-Gazette who is now for Kerry. He has the guts to say what some of us have been saying since Rove and Co. started this war.

<snip from op-ed piece in today's P-G>

"But the Iraq war was something else. President Bush and his handlers did that for other reasons. They knew that the only way he could get the second term his father didn't get was by being able to call himself a war president when he ran in 2004. Otherwise, the American people would reject him, as they did his father in 1992, on the basis that he was the president of the rich, with no interest in or feeling for the ordinary people of this country -- the ones who work so hard for so little, the ones from small towns who are now dying at the rate of 55 per month in Iraq to reelect him president."

5. After reading the link below I believe that to be absolutely the case....
...Bush's whole political agenda comes form the Pat Robertson dominonistic political movement which has infiltrated government, the military and corporate boardrooms across this country. Fear and intimidations has kept insiders from coming out and exposing the vast abuses of this movement, but now people are finding the courage to come and speak about what they have seen and are less likely to be accused of being totally crazy. Here is a link to read about this further:

Also a web search of key words dominionism, world view brought up some startling disclosures for me.

6. Or, just ask The Onion.
From January 16, 2001:

http://chak.org/pages/onion/bush_nightmare.html">Bush: Our Long National Nightmare of Peace and Prosperity is Finally Over

During the 40-minute speech, Bush also promised to bring an end to the severe war drought that plagued the nation under Clinton, assuring citizens that the U.S. will engage in at least one Gulf War-level armed conflict in the next four years.

"You better believe we're going to mix it up with somebody at some point during my administration," said Bush, who plans a 250 percent boost in military spending. "Unlike my predecessor, I am fully committed to putting soldiers in battle situations. Otherwise, what is the point of even having a military?"

It was funny then. Who's laughing now?
