I hear that the B/C campaign is woefully behind in their payments. Typical.

Are behind on payments, Repugs, Democrats, Greens, Commies, you name it. The federal government would be one of a very few entities to not ask for payment upfront from a campaign.

5. Slippery Slope...Same Noise Was Made About The Clintons |
|
The manchild always dovetails a "public event" around his campaign activities that justify the use of AF1 and the SS and other protection services. It might be urinating in the public latrine (somehow I don't think he's done that since his drinking days and probably didn't hit the target then either) and it's partially written as a "job related" expense.
Supposedly those rallies and true political events...ones the media are allowed to cover...are paid for by the Repugnicans and the 77 million in campaign matching funds WE gave this regime to spend on this campaign. Either way, we're paying for most of this bubble tour.
This was a bitch levelled at Clinton and then at Hillary in her Senate bid. I'm sure a President Kerry will be scrutinized with an anal probe when he takes off on trips and dares to speak at a fundraiser or just meet with local party leaders.
There's a lot of other campaign abuses to work on here before we get to this one.
Nice try.

6. The ostensible reason is security... |

... and the law now says that the President may use government resources for travel as long as the portion used for political purposes is repaid at the rate of commercial travel.
Of course, that makes travel convenient for the incumbent, and cheap, compared to the actual costs of traveling on Air Force One (the cost of which to run is averaged out at about $8K per hour). But, this has been a perk available to all recent presidents. Bush, however, considering the frequency of his political travel, has probably abused the privilege compared to other presidents.
Cheney's use of Air Force Two has been even more egregious. His use required the diversion of other WH expense money to pay for his travel in 2002. This year appears to be much worse.
