Iraq says 'impossible' explosives taken before regime fall
This is a signifigant new data point for all us high explosive looting story devotees.
"It is impossible that these materials could have been taken from this site before the regime's fall," said Mohammed al-Sharaa, who heads the science ministry's site monitoring department and previously worked with UN weapons inspectors under Saddam.

"The officials that were inside this facility (Al-Qaqaa) beforehand confirm that not even a shred of paper left it before the fall and I spoke to them about it and they even issued certified statements to this effect which the US-led coalition was aware of."

1. HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!
Those MORANS.

Enough with the laughter, though. Our boys and girls are at risk. 380 tons is nothing to sneeze at or even cough near.

I heard that Cheney still maintains they probably disappeared during Saddam's regime, all facts to the contrary. then again, Cheney has never dealt well with facts.

6. Will the media EVER tire of rehashing lies they are fed by this WH?
A free press should treat all statements from any human being as presumptively neutral-to-false.

Could any reporter have not known the WH was making stuff up yesterday? The WH has the pentagon and the CIA and the NSA but they were grasping at an NBC report to determine where US troops were deployed on a given day! (Aren't there records of that sort of thing? And don't we have daily sat intel of this site going back 2 years?)

10. The comments on this story on Yahoo are a real freep meltdown
"I thought Iraq had no WMD!" etc., and lots of lies about the NBC report.

11. The Monday night Brokaw report was a deception too
Brokaw insinuated that because an NBC embedded reporter was there in April and hadn't seen any HDX or RDX explosives, it nust have already been taken. That's, of course, logically asinine.

However, slippery Tom didn't quite make that it explicit, just left it for the viewers to assume.

Brokaw's CYA denial of his own report on Tuesday (last) night only dealt with a few of the actual words the he had said the night before.

See, Tom can talk out of both sides of his mouth.

12. The worst part was NBC kept saying "only conventional weapons were found,
but no RDX or HMX" as if RDX and HMX are not conventional explosives, which they are

14. Incompetence no matter how you spin
Lets assume we give any credibility to White House spin.

They had to know the explosives were there when we invaded since the inspectors had the the bunkers sealed - their existence and contents were PUBLIC knowledge. When US forces arrived, nobody was ordered to check the seals? How tragically stupid is that?
