I got my sample ballot today (Florida) (19 pages!)
I lost count of how many amnedents there are to the Florida Constitution.

Some of the amendments have me baffled by the wording. UI honestly don't know what to do?

7. Consult your local newspaper...do they have an election pamphlet,
like we did here in Dallas? Also, the local papers sometimes post their endorsements and recommendations. They also sometimes explain the propositions being voted on.

I'd say your local paper would be the most helpful to you (if it's not a Repub paper).

12. LIke the Naples Daily News
I just vote the opposite of their recommendations - this year we agreed only on one Amendment (#7 - yes)

20. Too bad. So is mine. But it's useful, anyway. It may explain the
propositions, which is good. Then you can just ignore the recommendations.

OR you can find another Florida newspaper online that is not Repub.

9. League of Women Voters
Here in NM, the LWV put out a great election guide. They asked each candidate to answer three questions, and explained each amendment and bond issue, listing both pros and cons. I would wager they do this in every state. Call them and they can tell you where you can pick one up. When it came time to fill out my absentee ballot, it helped me out a ton.

22. Yes, the LWV is neutral . . .
I guess it was silly of me to think that the poster would want to make up his/her own mind rather than simply being told how to vote.

11. The Orange and Collier Dems recommend
NO on 1,2 and 3, They are neutral on 4 but I voted against it because it supports the dog racing industry and I am an animal lover. Yes on 5, No on 6, Yes on 7 and 8.

14. Why no on number 6?
I voted for it in 2000 and am pissed that Bush hasn't acted on it yet. I feel Florida needs this to go into the future. Am I missing something here?

13. #5 Florida Minimum Wage Amendment
Raises minimum wage and the GOP are running non-stop ads against it. They call it the fifth disaster to hit Florida this year. IMO It is the only one that warrants a yes.

19. Make SURE you put sufficient postage on it.. seiously!!
There is a stink here in Washington State that some counties sent out ballots requiring 57 cents postage, while making no mention of it.. and they are being thrown out, and returned to sender, etc. Florida sounds like a doozy! Be sure to weigh it at the P.O. if it seems at ALL too large for one stamp! Better safe with an extra 37 cents, than to have it tossed.

23. If we had Vote By Mail you would have had ample time to research
everything on the ballot and able to make an informed decision on who and what to vote for. You would have been able to sit at your kitchen table and discuss the issues and the people with whomever you please and then have the postman pick up your ballot and never be bothered with finding a parking spot or standing in a long line or voter intimidation. People in Oregon are very pleased with their method of voting and they have very good turn-out. I just can not fathom why Democrats would be against Vote By Mail. IMHO we should push very strongly for this form of voting or suffer all the consequences we are currently worried about and actually suffering in many places.
