This story about Bush supporting same-sex civil unions is already upsetting the religious right. Time to DU them!

"Focus on the Family" is a radio program that is listened to by 5 million members of the religious right daily...Arkansas, Virginia, Missouri, Florida..important swing states!!

Here is their contact page. Express your concerns (hehe) about President Bush supporting same-sex civil unions. Don't be condescending, don't use profanity, and this will work! Contact and Kick!

1. I know why you're suggesting this but I wouldn't lift a finger
to aid in the continuation of bigotry and discrimination...imagine DUing a site and suggesting that black people should not be able to drink out of public fountains.

But if fewer bigots turn out to vote, that equally helps the cause of civil rights.

We're simply practicing our acting skills. Reagan/Arnold have done the same.

20. no one is disenfranchising them
* said what he said; there's no denying that. if they can't reconcile what * said with their own belief system, then maybe they should think twice about voting for him. pretending to be outraged about civil unions may be disingenuous, but if what we write resonates, then we're just wording what they're already concerned about from the beginning.

7. haha...
In mine, I just put "I was reading the news and noticed that President Bush is supporting same-sex civil unions. Isn't that the same as gay marriage? What's the difference?"

Was that Freeperish enough, or should I try again?

4. I've been wondering why we haven't seen Bush's flip flop on this issue
Kerry and surrogates need to start "congratulating" Bush on his newfound enlightenment concerning gay couples, and then asking exactly when Blinky decided to change his position.

8. If you're nervous about possibly supporting bigots, try this approach
Contact these RW organizations and say that you're proud of President Bush's decision to support civil unions, and you support it. In your case, that would be much more honest, and it would have a positive effect either way the recipients approach it. If they actually listen to what you say, bam!....bipartisan support for civil unions. If not, it will still raise questions that they need to address about President Bush.

15. Excellent approach!
I always tell the truth. It's much stronger. Like Bill Clinton said during the convention - Republicans lie because if they told the truth, nobody would vote for them. We don't have to lie.

9. I sent robertson a note...
saying that I am dismayed that bush* would call him a liar, and now he's coming out in support of gay marriage.
I think I am leaning toward Kerry.

Let's see how long it takes for them to bombard my (junk) email box.

16. I left a heartfelt message about Jesus
because, when you think about it, Jesus would not approve of Americas behavior lately and I hope we can change. Too bad so many of the people who follow those organizations think that Bush speaks for God - he doesn't, no person can.

17. This thread needs to be kicked!
Anyone have a link to Bush endorsing civil unions?

When I e-mail these people, I want a source.

We can make it the talking point of the evangelicals' weekend! Bush* wants to destroy marriage!! We must vote Peroutka!!!

Also, when contacting these people, state that abortion rates have gone up since Bush* has been president!

Robert Knight, director of the Concerned Women for America’s Culture and Family Institute, told AP, “Civil unions are a government endorsement of homosexuality.”

That would only make sense in freeperland.

18. Make sure they are aware of Bush's Support of Civil Unions
Let's inundate them with information, and get them discussing it among themselves.

They need to be aware that their Christian Bush is PANDERING to those ungodly homosexuals.

What happened to Bush's "Moral Core"? Has Satan got to Bush?

It's like a help desk for the soul!! They gave my request a ticket number, lol.

Here's what I sent them:

"I'm sure you have see the news that President Bush is now saying he supports "the rights" of homosexuals to have gay unions."

"I believe this is him taking our country on a course where homosexuality will be viewed as an "acceptable alternative lifestyle". How can he clam to be a Bible believing Christian and yet publicly say that he supports gays rights?"

"I hope you will talk about this in your shows and in your newsletters."

24. I sent them a right friendly letter...
... Titled "Bush Endorses Civil Unions".

Here it is..

"Mr. Bush is out of his mind. Gay people should burn in Hell; they are disobeying the Lord Our God and Jesus Christ. I din't like gays and I have no use for them. I never will either, as long as I can have intercourse with the members of my family and my pets. God bless you."

Bet they choke on their Sanka.
