NYT/CBS suppressing Florida poll that shows Kerry leading by 4?
New battlegrounds, and is the CBS/NYT's hiding a Florida poll?
by Jerome Armstrong

Here's a email note I got from an insider pollster:

The word I hear is that NYT/CBS are not going to release their latest FL survey, because it shows Kerry up by 4 points. Apparently, they think that is an implausible result, so they are suppressing it. Of course, it's not implausible at all. And imagine the reverse: would they have suppressed a poll showing Bush up 4?

Or poorly reported by the media

8. Sorry, CBS has joined the Bush-lovers clan
They've got Kerry behind every which way: nationally and in most of the battleground states.

Last night (Tuesday night) they still had the "NBC was there" version of the missing 380 tons of high explosives on their web site. Even Tom Brokaw had denounced his own Bush-loving, faux report by that time.

3. Frankly, I think Kerry is aided by neck to neck poll results.
If they have him winning by several points on election day, it might suppress the Dem turn-out, and he desparately needs to keep his base energized through-out that day.

4. It other shows they are biased toward Bush, or more likely...
they don't want to release any poll that isn't close to tied. I could be wrong though.

7. I am not sure how credible
these "insider pollsters" are.

Not to say that the media are not whores.

9. They want to steal it
They are bowing to pressure from Rove. Bush wants the polls close so Jeb can still it plausibly. Remember when the Bush campaign begged CNN not to put Ohio in the Kerry column on their interactive electoral map? Guaranteed the same thing is going on here.
Go here:

http://www.cbsnews.com/htdocs/feedback/fb_news_form.shtml

and tell them not to bow to pressure or it will become another scandal for their news organization and run the poll tonight.

12. This poll should be released. Jeb is doing everything he can to steal
Florida and Democrats need some polls out there that show Sen. Kerry ahead so that when they do we can better make the case that they did and end it this year, rather than allowing Florida to remain a banana republic for another 4 years.

This is important.

13. Update - Kerry's leading the poll by 9
Edited on Wed Oct-27-04 12:46 PM by unfrigginreal
Update (Chris): The rumor I heard, from a good source, was that the poll showed Kerry up nine in Florida. Maybe the poll is flawed, but they should at least release it. Include whatever caveats they want. After all, flawed polls never stop Gallup or Mason-Dixon from public release.

14. Didn't the NYT endorse Kerry?
Why, then, would they be suppressing a poll showing him in the lead in Florida?

15. According to Atrios...
...the source (but oddly, the link on Atrios and that entire section of the page that included that post reads now as a hole on the page—as if it's being blocked or has been ripped down) says that the CBS/NYT poll initially showed aan 8-9 point lead for Kerry in FLA. They deemed those results "unreliable" as the swing seemed too large and re-polled and Kerry came in with a four point lead. They apparently deemed that spread too wide and have spiked the poll until they can get some less fantastic Kerry numbers.

No problem showing Bush in "double-digits" or claiming a Kerry three-point lead as a "tie" while calling a Bush 1-point lead a "slight Bush lead".

You only fuel our anger and drive moe of us to the polls, ya bastards!

to help Kerry. If Jeb and Company don't know beforehand, it
will be a whole lot harder for them to arrange anything else.
