Election 2004 Reuters/Zogby Daily Tracking Poll: It's Déjà vu; Kerry Bounces Back and Closes the Gap; Kerry 47%- Bush 48%, New Reuters/Zogby Poll Reveals

Democratic challenger, Senator John Kerry bounces back into a statistical dead-heat race with President George W. Bush (Kerry 47%-Bush 48%), according to a new Reuters/Zogby daily tracking poll. The poll data this evening has leaners factored into the overall results. The telephone poll of 1203 likely voters was conducted from Sunday through Tuesday (October 24-26, 2004). The margin of error is +/- 2.9 percentage points.

Pollster John Zogby: “Our first night with Leaners brings President Bush to 49% against Senator Kerry’s 46%. If Kerry, as suggested, is looking to Undecideds—look again there may not be enough left."

Is Zogby losing his touch or something. You look at the two statements, you have Zogby stating that there is nopthing left fot Kerry to tap for votes, and yet two days later, Kerry has tapped into something becasue he is up and Bush is down. zWhat happened, did some of Bush's base defect?

Well anyway, If you compare Zogby's 2000 polls for this number of days before the election, Bush was five points ahead of AL Gore.

3. tracking polls are rollercoasters, probably not a good idea to..
say a candidate is out of it until several later polls confirm it.

4. One thing I've noticed about Zogby
he likes the horserace element of a campaign and is sometimes over dramatic in a way to generate interest, I think.
