Why doesn't the left have a Drudge?

Look, Drudge does what Drudge does and he does it very well and he gets his share of attention. Why doesn't the left have a similar site? We now have one to counter Rush etc. on the radio side (AAR) after years of letting them have the stage all to themselves. We need a newsite that would attract a general audience and that would have the "sources" eager to supply tips -- a Drudge for the left. Is there such a site, and I've just missed it?

Wonkette. Talking Points Memo. Kos. This site. And unlike Drudge, our blogs occasionally report the TRUTH. Screw Drudge, the Right can have him. He got one big story in his whole life and has been coasting on that reputation ever since.

I've seen him on TV and he looks like a clown to me.

I do know that Buzzflash has done interviews with lots of well-known liberals and progressives. No, it doesn't grab the attention of corporate media, but I don't think that's Buzzflash's fault.

I do agree with you, though, that "our side" has to do more to take on the Right on what has become their turf, the mainstream media. But to do that, we need deep pockets and a strategy of creating more media outlets like the Right has done over the past couple decades. Corporatists have such a stranglehold on media today, that's difficult, but AAR proves it's doable.

For some reason, though, we don't have the same kind of vision or determination that the Right has to do it on a wider scale. Until we do, I'll continue going to Buzzflash, listening to Pacifica and AAR, and reading The Nation.

Drudge takes his orders from the RW media noise machine. He puts out the spin for the day - this stuff is not from his own research.
