in thyroid cancer procedures are only done in the severest type that blocks the trachea, And, Bush has been telling fellow pukes that he will have an appointment before January. A rumor?

2. Tracheostomy is only done to relieve airway obstruction
It is not a routine procedure for a thyroidectomy.

Clearly his tumor is compressing his windpipe. Doesn't mean mass size of the tumor is great. Could be a small tumor located very medially on the thyroid pressing on the trachea. But it is usually associated wtih large tumor size.

Won't know prognosis until we know the pathological type of thyroid cancer and the grade and staging.
