Generalized heads up re: Satellite Photos of al Qaqaa |
|
At some point the pentagon is likely to release satellite photos of trucks carting material from the facility at al Qaqaa shortly before the US invasion.
That vast complex was among the largest weapons depots in Iraq, so of course a LOT of trucks were hauling a LOT of stuff from there before the invasion. That's what you do before getting invaded... you go get your weapons out of storage. There were artillery shells and rockets and all sorts of other stuff kept there.
That obvious set of facts has 0.00% bearing on the question of RDX/HMX under IAEA seal at al Qaqaa.
Showing trucks leaving al Qaqaa and saying they must be carrying the IAEA monitored RDX/HMX is like producing a security camera picture of a random person leaving a shopping mall to "prove" that Sears is sold out of washing machines.

3. Nor would the photos address the "bottom line" pointed out today... |
|
... by Senator Kerry: we didn't send enough troops to inspect and secure the ammo dumps. Bush failed to plan for the most basic contingencies or to address the core reason we supposedly invaded, securing Saddam's weapons.

4. Problem with that is.. this was one of the original wmd plants Saddam |
|
had. If you were looking for wmd's wouldn't you check the facility out where they would have been made before? The IAEA was monitoring all the explosive material since 1991, and had been there 5 days before the invasion. It was all intact, and they had reported the locations of these materials to Bush and his admin. Why was this not immediately guarded after the invasion? That is a question that isn't going away. They have no answer for it.
