and I'm torn.
The problem is that whenever the spotlight is shown on the two parties, they take advantage of it by blowing each other up with even more intensity. And Clinton carries a big spotlight.
That's one of the reasons I think Mitchell was an effective negotiator -- he's so dull that he sucks all the showmanship out of the thing.
On the other hand, Clinton is fantastic at the kind of BS gladhanding (and I truly do not mean that as an insult) that can be necessary where there is so much malice. He's got the talent to get both sides to take the first step of *pretending* to work together, and can shuffled them into the second step too.
