Reacts October Surprise

Hannity just gave it away. He said in a couple of days the tape of the new and worse terrorist threat will be released. He said he's seen it (how?) and seemed confident this will work as their October Surprise (though of course he didn't say that).

This reeks of the false beheading tape and sure seems like a Rove Surprise.

Would they travel all the way to Pakistan to turn it over? And if the threat were real, wouldn't it be more threatening if it came from within the U.S.?

There are probably already debunks in process, but if we can kill this before it gets off the ground, Bush is sunk if this is the best he can do.

Which, of course, it isn't--they turned it over to the FBI. Funny thing is, because of all the GOP-induced hysteria over "Rather-gate," they can't fault ABC for wanting to "verify" the tape.

Besides, according to Sludge, the guy on the tape (who has an American accent, by the way) says somthing about the coming attack being in retribution for electing Bush, who "destroyed the Taliban." Two problems with this: 1) it isn't true--the Taliban is still very much around, and 2) a true jihadist would never admit that the Taliban was "destroyed."

This sounds like a big, leafy, green plant to me.

4. Here's the thing--

it doesn't matter if it's true or not. Faux, sadly, has the highest ratings of any cable network. When these thugs tell their lies, there are people out there who will believe them, no matter how many other legit news organizations prove them false. The only bright spot I can see is that these devout Faux viewers and Hannity/Limbaugh/O'Reilly listerners were probably all going to vote for * no matter what anyway. Still, it pisses me off no end that these guys can blantly lie and shill for the Repugs and do so without consequence.
