15. Jesse Jackson ruined his reputation... |
|
with that funneling of money to his mistress and his antics in the 2000 election.
He shames the legacy of Dr. King.

Trying to help the people in Palm Beach County get their votes counted? Shame on him.
Mistress??? Horrors!
Edit: If I remember correctly King had his mistress too.

6. Yeah, I guess the reception was kind of lukewarm, and it seemed that |
|
his interview was kind of short, too - for sure shorter than M. Albright.
I've seen him more animated on other shows, however, and he can be funny sometimes. Maybe he's in a very serious mood right now and concerned about the election outcome, as so many of us are.

far as most are concerned, in these last few days, me thinks TDSWJS is far gone beyond humor only. if soupy sales was on this week, i wouldn't say that. people are watching that show. and for the same reasons most of US have been.

however, I think it was more because of Jesse's own demeanor than anything else -- he seemed a bit too subdued and not his usual fiesty self...

10. his points were there, just not conveyed clearly. (n/t) |

I had a little trouble following the line of his arguments...most of it was the different methods of disenfranchisement in various areas.

12. I had a hard time understanding him, |
|
just because of his accent and he spoke a bit quietly. There was a moment when I expected applause, but it didn't come. I wonder if the live audience may have had an even harder time understanding what he was saying.
It could just be he was delivering a sobering message rather than cheerleading.

16. I thought they were expecting his more upbeat persona |
|
And that maybe he would talk about taking apart Falwell on CNN the other day. Instead he was very serious, not allowing Stewart to interrupt with lighter comments. He also didn't talk in any soundbites that would give people places to applaud. He was subdued, and he subdued the crowd.
They were very enthusiastic when he took the stage.

He didn't try and pretend he was a comedian. He made his points, paused for Stewart to make his jokes, and didn't do that "I think I'm funny" thing that can be so embarrassing when some of these politicians try to pander to John's audience.
He stayed on point, and even managed to segue right into how WMD's were never found; Bush can't even find those explosives, and we need a change.
He was a DNC dream, and the audience was mesmerized.
You can't make a lot of noise when you're mesmerized.
Also, I don't think the segment was short; it just went by fast because he gave so much info.
Jessie Rocks!
Anyone who disagrees is a troll.

I did not see him on Daily show, but I disagree that he has no credibility. Love Rev. Jackson. Also, for those who think he cannot be funny.... you obviously have not heard him read "Green Eggs and Ham" on Saturday Night Live! He does not shame King's legacy in my opinion. I was disappointed in his "affairs" coming to light but that does not erase a lifetime of good works IMO.

is not as comfortable with a comedy show format. He was being serious. Madeline Albright is a different story. Madeline is more experienced (Randi Rhodes interviews) and has learned how to give "comebacks." Jesse did just fine though with his information.

But I had trouble understanding what the Rev was trying to say. I understand he wanted to say alot about voting and it seemed very garble speech. I thought the audience responded well.

23. Jackson quoted a LOT of statistics very rapidly and indistinctly. |
|
There wasn't much to cheer. I could hardly understand him and I didn't have the background noise of a studio to deal with in trying to hear him. He was obviously nervous (and said so), but he was spouting statistics in such a rapid-fire manner that he didn't even stop to blink when JS tried to insert a quick joke here and there. He did all right and I thought Stewart really summed it all up very kindly for him.
