Cheney draws only 2,000 in PA Appearance near Pittsburgh

Hah, 2,000 in a county Bush lost to Gore by 7,000. Last week Kerry drew over 10,000 and probably closer to 20,000 in Pittsburgh. In Westmoreland County in July Kerry/Edwards drew 8,000 to 10,000!

"You know the terrorists will try to come after us again," she told the audience of roughly 2,000. "Who do I want standing in the doorway to protect us? It is not John Kerry and John Edwards."

Speaking to a crowd in a socially conservative county the Bush ticket lost by 7,000 votes four years ago, the vice president mocked Kerry's recent goose hunting trip, a foray taken while the senator was clad in camouflage.

"My fellow sportsmen, it's not going to work because you and I know the Second Amendment is more than just a photo opportunity," Cheney said.

The Cheney visit was marked by scattered protests in a block ringing the school gymnasium, with Bush and Kerry protesters squaring off across the street from one another. No incidents were reported.
