If there is one thing we don't need.... |
|
It is to remind people of Kerry's connection to Massachusetts and the Red Sox. Trust me on this, I live in Minnesota and people are not very fond of states like Massachusetts.

Before you start calling me a freeper, see my other posts. That is just lame. If i was going to post something that had a negative impact on the Kerry campaign it surely wouldn't have anything to do with the Red Sox.

2. Why is that? I've never understood this animus against the northeast. |

Massachusetts is the birthplace of the American Revolution. Boston is a wonderful city (even if it is the home of the - ulp - Red Sox). New England is a great place.
I don't get it.

Kerry should be proud of Massachussetts!! And he should be proud of the Sox!!
There is NO reason anybody should be somehow ashamed of their state in the UNITED STATES of America.

7. It took years and years of conservative propaganda |
|
To call someone liberal is almost the worst insult. MA is seen as the capital of liberalism to those people that have no clue what liberalism really is. Also, there is a sense of elitism that you cannot deny. A lot of people living in the upper east coast think we are all farmers with pitchforks. That gets back to us, and it causes a LOT of resentment.

14. I don't think the solution is for Massachussetts to hang its head in shame |
|
Seems "elitist" to diss other people because of where they live, but I don't think it's Massachussetts that's got that problem.
Kerry is from Massachussetts. BoSox finally won the world series. He's a fan. Not a thing to downplay there that I see.

I'm not "dissing" anyone. I'm simply saying that it is probably not the smartest POLITICAL strategy. I can hear the talk show hosts now.

But consider that lots of folks from all over the country are descendents of New Englanders. My own family originated in Worcestor, MA. Four generations including my father. I've never lived there myself but I have an affinity for that great state.

|
..and shame on us for not speaking out!
But seriously, why are you worried about Liberals in MN? What about Hubert Humphrey and Walter Mondale? Paul Wellstone?
Minnesota has always had a reputation for progressive thinking (much like WI). My advice is to avoid the conservative talk-radio koolaid drinkers. They want you to be ashamed!
I think we need to get over this divisiveness that sets state against state. If we stay focused on Kerry and his message, we can proudly unite in sending the chimp to the nearest travelling circus.

Minnesota is no longer the gleaming blue state that we were all proud of. I live in southern Minnesota, which is dominated by republicans and the burbs are turning red. Secondly, I am not worried about liberals in Minnesota, I am worried about swing voters that are looking for ANY reason not to vote for John Kerry. To say that Minnesota is still a liberal state, could not be further from the truth. :(

I have family in Michigan who really loved watching the series because of the Sox reputation as a ragtag bunch.
I mean, half the guys on the Sox look like they just spent 3 weeks at deer camp, fer crissakes.

No one is going to link this with their dislike of Massachusetts politics.
The Red Sox waited almost a century - they deserve it. This is an amazing story regardless of where one lives or what one's politics are.

There may be some diehard Astros fans who didn't get over losing to the Cardinals but I think most people root for an underdog and you don't get much more underdog than the Boston Red Sox as far as history goes.

I was referring to ZELL MILLER democrats.
If you would actually read my other post I said that I love MA. I never said that I have anything against MA, but unfortunately a lot of people in the Midwest and the South do. The conservative radio talk show hosts will have a field day with it. I actually bought a Red Sox hat, and have been rooting for them since they got Doug Mientkevitz (sp) from the twins. Stop misrepresenting what I say. Thanks.

...that was exactly what you insinuated on the other site, and you know it is. And you know that many people took it that way, including myself, because we wrote you back and said as much. Of course, its hard to go back and check what you said now, because of all the posts that are left on that thread, yours has been deleted. Hhmm, wander why? Maybe because the moderaters don't like people talking about torching other people?
Methinks we're getting close to freeperland here.
