Can we please stop with the BoSox threads?
Maybe it's because I'm a bitter and depressed Cards fan, but I'm on GD:2004 to find political news. If anything, can we limit it to one or two threads? I, as a Cards fan, may not have a presidential nominee on my side, but it still hurts to see my team lose.

1. Yes, PLEASE
I'm a lifelong BB fan (Cincy Reds) and have watched EVERY game of the ALCS and World Series (cheering for the SOX!) but enough is enough, folks.

5. Isn't GD:2004 for information relevant to this year's election?
A couple threads is fine, but this isn't exactly a major campaign issue worthy of 20 threads, even if it is Massachusetts. I mean, there is the lounge.

Unfortunately I have to get up to go to work in 8 hours; otherwise I would be totally shitfaced out of mind right now! Well, maybe one little one to help me sleep...

9. There's a time and place for it.
This isn't so relevant to the election (the forum IS General Discussion: Campaign 2004) that it merits so many threads.

I have NO PROBLEM with Sox fans celebrating. The sheer volume, however, is a little much.

But voter fraud in OH doesn't get this many threads here.

16. Yup, sour.
I'm on my way to a migraine. I've been perpetually exhausted by school, work, and this campaign for the past three months, and my favorite team in the world, who've I've follwed since I was two years old, just lost the WS after an amazing season. Frankly, I'm not particularly thrilled to see thread after thread about it.

I'm just tired, okay? Screw it. I was trying to approach this thread in a friendly manner, but some people just aren't worth the effort.

10. I understand what you are saying....
but can't superstition have some play?

I really have felt since the post-season started that the Sox and Kerry's mojo was intertwined. Not that I totally believe it, but that nagging voice in the back of my head has tied them. I am a Sox fan born and raised in Red Sox country, but not a rabid baseball fan. I would be the last to post just to rub a face in it.

But really my response to posts have been because of my deep and irrational maybe belief that this is good for Kerry. The energy, the eclipse, the repudiation of history, the beating of the empire of the Yankees, and straight out of BOSTON taking the country by storm and surprise! It is truly at the heart of my reasoning, what there is of it.

13. Maybe...I don't necessarily see it.
First of all, I'm only speaking from suburban St. Louis, but this is NOT helping Kerry's image here.

Again, I don't mind that fans are celebrating. But are theories on superstition worth this many threads on this particular board?

15. I understand where you are coming from
it would have been best if it was contained to less threads, I haven't started any.

Please give us Sox fans some break as difficult as it may be, most are probably a bit tipsy and just posting new threads instead of looking for old ones.

I am happy the Sox won, beyond happy.

But as a Kerry supporter, I hear what you are saying, and will stop kicking the other threads.

Have fun. Celebrate. You guys haven't seen this for almost a century.

I'm just in hormone-mode: on the verge of tears, feeling crappy, etc. These past few weeks have been a stressful time for me. :)

19. Hugs

I was raised to say at 3 "Yankees Go Home"

But as much as I have been waiting for this, and I am so happy for my Poppy who was 4 the last time the BoSox won, I am a Kerry fan first.

I can imagine this is rough for you seeing all the threads, sorry your team didn't win and sorry the day and the the past few weeks have sucked for you.

Hey believe in my superstion. Your team only lost to give momentum and some spunk to Kerry...I don't know maybe it helps?

why not shove that right back in their faces?
Sorry about the Cards, but I had to live through several years of disappointments as a Sox fan.

Sorry about the Cards, but look at the bright side:
Kerry's team wins in miraculous fashion. Bushies like to believe God chose Bush.
Let's turn the tables on them.
The Red Sox winning has a political side to it.

28. And I'm happy for you. Believe me, JK was the first person I thought about
when they won.

But in an ELECTION 2004 forum, I'm more interested in keeping relevant election news on the front pages as much as possible.

21. I don't consider sports posts as relevant in GD or GD 2004.
Put it in the lounge, people. There's already enough garbage to sift through in the supposed political forums.

25. THANK YOU.
This was the point I was trying to make.

Sports is a lounge topic, is it not? But this is my only source of up-to-date political information, and I come here for that purpose, not to sift through tons of BoSox threads.

22. DON'T YOU SEE??? WE NEED THIS NOW!!
Everything has been SO intense with this election---this is a boost for all of us here in Boston in the maligned state of Massachusettes.
Its incredible, and portends well for Kerry.

Kerry has always had big finishes in his campaigns----
HE IS GOING TO WIN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

BELIEVE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Use it while you can, because once we start getting
