Some news to brighten up the day for some of you.
I live and work in a TX county that is literally like 80 plus percent Repub. (There's a "President George Bush Hwy" that runs through here.) Today where I was working there were 4 of us in the room. A gal asked if we had early voted, and I responded in the affirmative.

She then volunteered that even though she is a Republican, she voted straight ticket Democratic.

I then volunteered that I had voted straight ticket Democratic as well. The other guy in the room admitted that he hadn't voted yet and admitted he was struggling with "voting for the lesser of two evils" and hadn't fully made up his mind yet.

The fourth person was silent (meaning to me she either didn't like to talk politics or was a Bush supporter realizing she was in a room full of anti-Bush or agonizing undecided).

Now mind you, most of the work environments here that I find myself in, if politics comes up at all, it's usually complete Bushbot blowhards tooting his horn or bashing Kerry, with all the Faux/Rush talking points.

This was encouraging to me. Even though I didn't feel our little room was representative of TX as a whole, I felt that the TX Repub voting straight ticket Dem (presumably because she realizes the country is on the "wrong track") and the agonizing undecided (who, based on demographic is probably usually a Repub voter), represent many, many others like them here and nationally.

But doughnuts are bad for the heart...
