Josh Marshall killing freepers and Faux
I am new to DU and the blog scence. But let me tell you something, Josh Marshall is destroying the freepers and the right wing nuts about Al Quaca (sp?).

I know enough people will read his blog and he is a popular site, but if ya haven't already given him a look, must read. He ties all the news story together. Stunning, how desperate the right wing and white house are. How many explanations are they going to have?

<http://talkingpointsmemo.com/>

It is like when you are young and you lose an argument, you end up going back to a standard phrase that in your mind makes you win. It seems like the best the right wing can do with this story is "Liberal Bias" ROTFLMAO.

The truth is the White House has no idea what happened to these explosives. NO IDEA. They could have been taken on March 20 or Sept.20. THEY DON'T KNOW. That is why this story is dangerous. Forget the timeline, where are the weapons? Bush doesn't know. How can you not know?

On April 3rd and 4th, what was that white powder? Cocaine?

It was explosives. How do you leave explosives unattended to? I have no idea. Bush has no idea. No one has no idea. That IS THE POINT?

3. YES that is the point..

I personally think the reason they DO NOT KNOW, is that there is SO MUCH MISSING and they KNOW IT>>>and are afraid it will all leak out to the press before the election..

Would like to see the inventory of what the IAEA gave them and what they have inventoried since we got there.. Bet there isn't one..

What do you bet.

It is like the group of blind people all touching different parts of the elephant and describing it to people that are on the phone.. None of them see the whole picture. How many of the folk in Iraq see the whole picture and if they do, what is the whole picture.. Thats the key.. Everyone of the guys over there think the hell hole they see or the weapons they saw wander off were the only ones.

4. I know you are but what am I?
They're so sad.

They're like the landshark knocking at the door. Pizza man. Nope. Candy gram. Nope... They keep spinning until something works, but this time nohting's going to work.

Sure we gave terrorists 5% of the Hiroshima bomb, enough to blow every jet liner ever made out of the sky. But Kerry's a flip-flopper! A liberal! They're scurrying like roaches with the light on.

I can't wait for liberation.

11. It's hard work.

The terrorists only have to get it right once to be effective. We have to get it right every time. (I’m paraphrasing.)

If that’s the standard for the * administration, they are either getting some major off-the-books compensation for their fuck-ups or they are totally inept in their protection of the American people.

How in the world can they say that when they were handed a briefing that said OBL was “determined to attack” us here? They’ve been squirming and spinning their excuse since it happened as well as withholding 9/11 reports until after this election. But how stupid or transparent do you have to be to invade a controlled nation that you’ve portrayed as a dire threat and then send your forces directly to cover the oil without securing their armaments? That was the threat that they sold us or maybe it wasn’t.

I don’t think they are stupid. I think they’re just blinded by their greed. Their eyes were on a different prize than the one they told the world (and us) to count on. The world saw through it. Our media didn’t.

But it’s hard work keeping track of lies. Especially when the lies provide the narrative and justification for all the lives lost in this folly. But the truth seeps out. The beat goes on. And it’s hard fuckin’ work managing lies.

12. Kerry said it best
the only thing that was guarded was the oil ministry and the oil fields. They left the munitions depots alone. That much was on TV for us all to see.

14. His coverage has been excellent..
as usual.

I had to turn CNN off today because the RW shills were spewing so much complete bullshit. Very few journalists are calling them on any of it. It's a bit frustrating knowing more than the people who get paid millions of dollars to report on this stuff. I wish Josh would become one of our talking heads.

Welcome to DU, btw.

15. The military plan called for getting to Baghdad as fast as possible
Period. They didn't care about anything else. They ignored warnings of all the arms and explosives all over the country. They ignored warnings about a possible insurgency. They just wanted to capture Baghdad and overthrow Saddam Hussein.

Donald Rumsfeld wanted to validate his conception of the new US Army - light, mobile, quick (basically, the US Marine Corps writ large). War on the cheap. Quick & dirty. They didn't bring enough troops because they knew there would be no need for a lengthy occupation. The US would be welcomed as liberators. The Iraqis were just waiting to embrace democracy. Ahmad Chalabi told us so.

They saw in Iraq what they wanted to see. They not only ignored anyone saying otherwise, they punished anyone saying otherwise, the way they have tried to stifle all dissent since being in office (not just since 9-11).

They had no contingency plans, no Plan B just in case Plan A went wrong.

And no one has been held accountable for any of these lapses. No one. To me, the missing accountability is as important as the missing explosives.
