WTF?-THIS is how W meets with African-American "leaders"? (pics)

The motorcade waits as President George W. Bush (news - web sites) walks into a curtained off area to meet with African American leaders, before a rally in the Silverdome in Pontiac, Michigan October 27, 2004. Bush insisted Wednesday 380 tons of missing explosives in Iraq (news - web sites) might have been removed prior to the arrival of U.S. forces in 2003 and he attacked Democrat John Kerry (news - web sites) for making a campaign issue out of it. 28. That and making them bunch together makes the group appear larger
Let's face it, Junior doesn't want to be seen in public with them. Since he's managed to talk them into allowing themselves to be herded into a tiny, managed area, it also looks like there are more of them than there really are. Sick. On both sides. How could they let themselves be used like that? :eyes:

Edited on Thu Oct-28-04 07:38 AM by HFishbine
I'm either stupid because:

a) I cannot tell if this is photoshopped.

or

b) Because I never in a million years imagined that the Bush campaign would cordon off black leader like this.

Please tell me why I am stupid. Is it a or b?

8. This was reported.................
Edited on Thu Oct-28-04 07:44 AM by DumpGump
on last night's news without pictures. They said that Bush had met with Black Leaders and in the background you could hear multitudinous applause as if he were addressing a crowd of many thousands. It's quite apparent from seeing this picture that they dubbed the sound from the rally following this meeting onto the report of the meeting with Black Leaders. There is no way that the sound track from this meeting was the same one on their report. Amazing. There can't be more than 50 people in there, it sounded as if there were thousands. I remember thinking at the time "are there that many Black Leaders in support of Bush"? Unfreakingbelievable.

9. I think it's the other way around.
The black leaders didn't want to be seen meeting with Bush. Then again, MOST Presidents go to the black churches to meet with the leaders. No matter the reason, this just looks 'back of the bus' bad.

Arenas such as this are often seperated for big events. Basketball games in arenas like this usually only take place in one half. The original photos (up top) were on the other side of the big divider.

15. Looks like they set it up to take a "class picture".
I believe the two white triangular objects (middle sides of blue box) are camera lights. The "African-American leaders" appear to be standing in the typical "class picture" format, possibly on risers.

34. Why is no one else troubled...
That Bush is meeting with Don King in the middle of Detroit? Don King is a know criminal and mercenary who has no compunction about selling people out to his own benefit.

Paradoxically, Don King also has deep contacts and clout in parts of the African-American community, some through his reputation, and others flat out purchased.

Kerry NEEDS a good turnout in Detroit to offset the Republican turnout in the suburban areas of Michigan.

I wouldn't put it past Bush or King to be working together to suppress the African-American vote turnout in Detroit.

The republicans KNOW that turnout is key in Michigan!

http://www.nationalreview.com/battleground/battleground.asp

GW can win Michigan only one way — he has to win suburban Oakland county. Forget Macomb; 800,000 residents vs. Oakland's 1.2 million. Write off Detroit but hope and pray for low turnout.
Watch the rally on Wednesday. K-Lo says it might be moved to the Silverdome (right in the heart of Oakland county). If GW has attendance similar to what was seen this weekend in Florida, then he's looking real good in Oakland.

40. Now that is beyond bizarre. I can only assume that
camera shots taken inside the cube will make the crowd look larger. They certainly don't have enough people in there to make for a good photo op, otherwise. But there's something offensive about herding all those people into a cage to wait for their meeting with the Prez. It looks like a calculated publicity stunt for *, not a genuine effort to reach out to the black community. I have a hunch that if it were a group of white businessmen, they would have been given much more comfortable surroundings ... and of course there would have been many more of them.

44. This looks like a modern day slave pen.
The Bush junta has no respect and the black folks who met under these conditions have no self respect, and no sense of history. This shows exactly what Bush thinks of black people. The campaign couldn't even bother with a meeting room in a mediocre hotel, they just herded them into a curtained off area in the middle of the arena floor. Disgusting.
