Kerry rally could be a 'record-breaker'

Dee J. Hall Wisconsin State Journal

October 28, 2004

Madison officials are bracing for crowds of between 40,000 and 60,000 people today to see Sen. John Kerry and rock star Bruce Springsteen as the hotly contested presidential election races to the finish line.

Coming just days before Election Day, today's Downtown rally featuring Kerry, Springsteen and Foo Fighters lead vocalist Dave Grohl could be the largest political gathering ever in Wisconsin, Madison Ald. Michael Verveer said.

"I think we're looking at a record-breaking turnout for the senator and 'The Boss,'" said Verveer, invoking Springsteen's widely used nickname. "It seems like everybody and their uncle is coming to this."

<>The largest Kerry rally was held Monday in Philadelphia, when an estimated 80,000 to 100,000 people went to see the Democratic senator from Massachusetts and former
President Bill Clinton, who returned to the campaign stump after heart surgery.

1. damn that stats exam I have to take instead
I'll be a mile away from all this fun taking a freakin' exam. But, I told all the undergrads I teach to see him today- even if they don't plan on voting for him, I pointed out they are welcomed at the rally and they should see first hand what they are disagreeing with.

If you'll be there cheer extra loud for me!
