Flags at rallies
I say chaps. There's some bally awful people on other forums say that Kerry/Edwards are banning the waving of the US flags at rallies?

Can anyone confirm or deny these rumours?

I remain etc,

G.M.

1. It's bullshit!
It's a lie, that would NEVER happen at a political rally in this country. It would be political suicide!

2. From my understanding...
The Kerry campaign asks that no signs, bags, umbrellas, etc. are brought to the events, for security reasons. Because THEY don't have the incredible controls over each person that comes in, AND their crowds are in the tens of thousands, then they have to limit things like that, because of potential harm.. when you're jammed in with 60k of your closest friends.

Banning the waving of flags? No. Asking that people not bring pointy objects in a packed crowd, probably!

7. GOP's way of controling a crowd
http://www.boston.com/news/nation/articles/2004/08/09/bush_backers_only_policy_riles_voters_at_rnc_rallies/

"When Vice President Dick Cheney spoke July 31 to a crowd of 2,000 in Rio Rancho, a city of 45,000 near Albuquerque, several people who showed up at the event complained about being asked to sign endorsement forms in order to receive a ticket to hear Cheney."

http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/articles/A31019-2004Jul31.html

"I, (full name) . . . do herby (sic) endorse George W. Bush for reelection of the United States." The form warns that signers "are consenting to use and release of your name by Bush-Cheney as an endorser of President Bush."

5. When I saw Edwards they asked no signs be brought in.
Of course at bush/cheney events the supply the flags & you must sign a waving waver.
