Three Teachers get kicked out of Bush Event and threatened for T-Shirt
Three Medford-area schoolteachers Janet Voorhees, Candice Julian, and Tania Tong were ejected from a Bush rally in Central Point, Oregon for wearing these shirts, which Bush event staff called “obscene.”

October 14 - MEDFORD – President Bush taught three Oregon schoolteachers a new lesson in irony – or tragedy – Thursday night when his campaign removed them from a Bush speech and threatened them with arrest simply for wearing t-shirts that said “Protect Our Civil Liberties,” the Democratic Party of Oregon reported.

2. My letter to editor on this will be printed
I recently wrote a letter to the editor of The Commerical Appeal (Memphis) on this subject. I was notified today that it is going to be printed. Here it is:

Whatever Happened to Compassionate Conservatism?

I noted with shock and dismay a recent report out of Oregon concerning three school teachers who were expelled from a Bush Rally for wearing T shirts that said "Protect Our Civil Liberties". According to witnesses these women were not causing a disturbance, just merely sitting quietly in the audience. To make matters worse the head of the Jackson Country Republican Central Committee when asked about the incident backed the action 100%. Unfortunately there have been many other reports of similar efforts by this administration to stifle or suppress our constitutionally protected right of free speech. And this administration dares to cloak itself in the flag of conservatism. A true conservative believes 100% in our constitution and the principles for which it stands. What kind of message does it send to the American people when our leaders trample all over our liberties? No wonder our country is so polarized and divided.

3. That was a huge mistake on the part of the Chimpy campaign
We see that kind of stuff all the time up in Portland (repression of freedom of speech) but this happened in the rural south of Oregon where they have a large percentage of conservative voters.

I really think that was a turning point for the state. Notice Chimpy hasn't been back. ;)

4. Oh man - the others further down in article were arrested?
That means, booked, fingerprinted, and an FBI file started.

I think they should start a class action suit naming Dick Cheney, dumbya and his lieutenants.

I hope they make those jokers pay one way or another.
