We on DU were conned by Plame investigation apologists.
I don't remember the posters names, and can't search the archives, but there were one or two who claimed they knew the inside story and swore by God that Fitzgerald was doing a yeoman's job, and we would have indictments soon.

Well I have one word for those predictions:

Bullshit!

Where the hell are the godam Plame indictments?
Justice delayed is justice denied.
Fitzgerald is just another freaking political hack waiting to see which way the winds will blow.
Meantime, we on DU were hornswaggled.

1. Let the Plame indictments come AFTER
Kerry takes office. Then the perpetrators can't be pardoned by Bush.

6. Wrong. It will take months to bring them to trial and get a conviction.
Meantime a high public official who committed treason against America for political purposes stands for re-election without the facts being put on the table.

That is criminal negligence on the part of this prosecutor.

2. Agreed, those Plame posts were BULLSHIT.
I won't name any names (you know who you are!), but those people should hang their heads in shame. At the time, I posted questions in many of the threads, but the herd kept saying just wait...just wait...

I said Fitzgerald wasn't going to do anything until after the election, if then. Not a popular position at the time, but the correct one.

3. no way, Merlin
He is doing a fantastic job putting corrupt pols in Chicago and Illinois away. Considering that both sides of the aisle are dirty as mushroom and manure compost, he has never let politics get in the way.

What he does do is a careful job, one that guarantees convictions or plea bargains. I know it is tough, but I'd rather have justice done right, than some political hack (on either side) force an issue prematurely.

5. Who says he isn't doing a "yeoman's job"?
Because indictments haven't met your (our) desired timetable? I don't know where they are either, but "justice delayed" is better than no justice at all. If it's taking him this long to build a solid case, that's fine with me. The cells will be there waiting...

As for "Fitzgerald is just another freaking political hack waiting to see which way the winds will blow", I can't really argue... that's only opinion. It differs from mine, which is formed by seeing him operate here in Chicago over the last few years, but you're entitled to be wrong...

;-)

7. By any measure, he is derelict in his duty to the citizenry
A high public official who committed treason against America for political purposes stands for re-election without the facts being put on the table.

That is dereliction of duty on the part of this prosecutor.

11. Would you rather he put incomplete "facts on the table"?
And blow the prosecution? It seems THAT would be dereliction of duty, not the course he is following.

I share your frustration with the pace of this thing, but you're blaming the wrong person here. You may have a point about "some DUers" who put the cart before the horse, but to blame Fitzgerald or accuse him of dereliction AT THIS POINT is ridiculous.

8. Not all of us
I usually don't trust the opinions people who say they were former CIA. But I am skeptical, more than ever, of any news.

I posted a thread on my skepticism, but a few Pooh Poohed it. The archives are locked up till after the election otherwise I would post a link.

You know, it figures the archives would get locked up this close to election :-(

9. I’ll Stand Up & Be Counted
As one who has expectations of indictments in the Plame case. And my expectations will hold out against the time it takes for the reporters to finish with all their appeals, through all Porter Goss’ efforts to bury the case, and the monumental efforts of reporters across this country to cast dispersions on both the case and Fitzgerald. And if Joe Wilson can continue to maintain confidence that this matter will be successfully resolved to his satisfaction, I guess I can too.

10. I listened to Joe Wilson on radio the other day
He is smart guy and I don't doubt his intentions, but he and wife were used as some kind of Rove football in my opinion. It's better to have a bad story you can control and use a red herring, than have one that you can't and are of unsure of.

This explosive one blowing up in Rove's face is a prime example.

(I hate the pun on that story, it seems so cheap :D)

16. Yeah and hopes springs eternal
But every once and awhile cliches even come true! Keep the faith.

And anyway-it's not over YET yee naysayers, and besides if that crumb of hope got me through another dismal day in the Bush four year nightmare who are you to say it was meaningless? Sometimes hope in the face of all evidence to the contrary is all you have.
