There's lots of still pics of * with troops.

Can they do anything without faking it? WTF is wrong with them?

1. You know, it's kinda like calling in sick to work...
the rare times when you _are_ actually sick, it feels weird to tell the truth.

3. It's covering up Bush.
It's the photo where he's talking and there's a bunch of troops behind him with a kid holding the American flag.

13. That's the difference between a liar and a pathological liar
the pathological liar is so comfortable with it that he lies even when the situation doesn't suggest it.

4. Laziness and time.
They were probably under the gun to get that commercial out, and rather than look for a photo with enough troops in it to fill the frame, then 'shopped it. What is sad is that they didn't even bother to DO A GOOD JOB 'shopping it. I have seriously 'shopped things for the b3ta boards in 15 minutes that were more seamless than that full-on repeater of a mess.

If they'd reproduced each head only once, from different parts of the picture, it would have been fine. What they did was a LAZY FUCKING 'SHOP.

15. I would have done exactly the same thing...
...only, as you said, with somewhat greater finesse.

Web masters and magazine editors do this ALL THE TIME. You take a good image that doesn't quite fit what you need in layout and you crop it, you take stuff out, you clone other stuff back in, until you have a useful image.

So what? It's junk, visual filler, the equivalent of fake snow in a store window.

Why does this nothing issue have any legs at all while the truly despicable deeds and deceptions go unremarked? It's not like Bush had anthing to do with this. Heck, we don't even know if the person who 'shopped this is even a Republican.

Let it go, folks!!

5. I have known the PHOTO in QUESTION for a long time...
I used the original in a faux satyrical pro-bush campaign commercial I made for my video production class.

I know it well, because they use the original on one of their officially sanctioned Bush/Cheney '04 desktop wallpapers:

9. Yep see? The owned the rights and wanted to fill the spot in.
It was just damn LAZY of them to only use two heads for the rubber stamp.

6. Probably covered up a bunch of people holding protest signs
flipping him off, mooning him, etc.

They should have just taken a crowd from a Kerry rally. They could have pasted in 100,000 people without having to replicate any!

16. Lack of pics of Bush talking to large crowds.
The crowds he usually talks to are so small that they have to re-use old images with large crowds.

17. because their whole agenda is based on propaganda
If they lose this election, they are not going to even think 2x about
their policies and agenda, they will focus on their propaganda efforts.

They will step up their public relations activities and other thwarts
of democracy and truth.

With such a mindset, they don't think 2x about modifying reality or how that could even be a problem.
