Lancaster PA rally: Gov. Rendell, Carole King, Rob Reiner, Valerie Harper
Lancaster, PA is REAAAAALLY conservative, but the Democrats here are more active than they've EVER been. This afternoon, Gov. Ed Rendell (a fabulous speaker on Kerry's behalf) did a rally at a local technical college, bringing with him Rob Reiner, Carole King and Valerie Harper. All of them were absolutely WONDERFUL speakers on Kerry's behalf. The crowd was whipped into a frenzy. Carole King had us all singing "You've Got a Friend," referring to Kerry (who will be our friend in the White House). Ms. King also spoke to the Bush supporters who had sneaked in the back, and told them they were welcome to stay and listen, unlike Kerry supporters at a Bush rally. Rob Reiner quoted Bush's statement about a candidate who jumps to conclusions (about the explosives) should not be commander in chief -- and, of course, turned the statement against Bush.

They were great ... and were a pleasant antidote to the big Bush rallies here yesterday and in Hershey last week.

Unfortunately, some asshole ripped my Kerry bumper sticker off in the parking lot. Fortunately, I bought extras. They can steal my bumper sticker, but not my resolve to work all weekend for the rescue of my country!!
