HOLY CRAP!!! i may have just convinced my conservative dad to not vote! |
|
we have been arguing for quite awhile about the merits of bush (or lack thereof) and up until today he always said he would vote for bush no matter what. i have ignored the right wing bullshit he has sent to me for months but today i just snapped and sent him a laundry list of 100 things bush has done to worsen the state of our nation (posted here earlier in another thread... i forget which one).
well i got an email back from him that said, "that was quite a list. i just wish we could vote no and get rid of both candidates." needless to say, i pounced on this and wrote him back to inform him that, in fact, he CAN vote no by simply not voting for either candidate! hopefully this will win him over. no, it isn't a vote for kerry, but it isn't one in *'s column either. so it is a victory of sorts... especially here in colorado.

3. That is actually my goal with my repuke friends and family. |
|
To just put enough doubt in their minds about Bush that they don't show up to vote.

4. It would be a major victory |

If we can convince enough true Republicans to just sit this one out and not vote we may even win some House seats. Remember every single member of the house is up for election in this election. If enough Republicans just stay home because of Bush* we may gain seats.

My sister and I have been working on our 81 year old Mom, and she has pretty well said she is voting for Kerry. It has caused her a lot of angst, as she has considered herself a Republican all her life. The things that helped the most were:
John Eisenhower's renunciation of the ReThugs.
The editorial endorsements, but mostly the Non- endorsements, like the American Conservative magazine and the Detroit News.
and... our discussions, without either one of us (my sister or me) knowing the other had said this, that we would seriously consider becoming expatriate if * steals another election.
We are both in our mid fifties, and definitely becoming more 'libral' by the week.
