Falwell says, "Blow them all away in the name of the Lord."
Anyone have video of this from Blitzer's 10/24/04 Late Edition - Jesse Jackson and the Reverend Falwell? I don't remember Jesus ever saying' "blow them away."

http://cnnstudentnews.cnn.com/TRANSCRIPTS/0410/24/le.01.html

JACKSON: So, Jerry, you should not abandon your friend, Pat Robertson, for the president.

I submit to you today that our going to Iraq was a misadventure. It has put America in isolation. We are losing lives, money and losing our character in that war.

We deserve better leadership. And we need...

FALWELL: I'd rather be killing them over there than fighting them over here, Jesse. And I think you would...

JACKSON: Let's stop the killing and choose peace. Let's choose negotiation over confrontation.

FALWELL: Well, I'm for that too. But you've got to kill the terrorists before the killing stops. And I'm for the president to chase them all over the world. If it takes 10 years, blow them all away in the name of the Lord.

JACKSON: That does not sound Biblical to me.

Falwell's Jesus sounds like a bit of warmonger. Don't rememeber reading that kind of thing in the New Testament. Interesting.

There's way too many for her to keep servicing alone.

'Thou shalt not kill any living thing,' for life is given to all by God, and that which God has given, let not man taketh it away. ~Jesus, Gospel of the Holy Twelve, (earliest known recorded words of Jesus)

"Thou shalt not kill." ~Exodus 20:13 Authorized version of King James

"You shall not murder." ~New International Version

i see nothing that says it's ok if they are terrorists, in fact, it says to love the sinner. man, what is this world coming to??

16. Just yesterday
Edited on Thu Oct-28-04 06:03 PM by Dyedinthewoolliberal
I was having lunch with a work colleague who is a * supporter. Inevitably the subject (Iraq) came up and after she said the war was the right thing to do, I asked "who would Jesus bomb"?
She couldn't answer the question. I really think we could beat the fundies at their own game if we pounded home that question and its many variations.
For example, where in the Gospels does Jesus ever talk about killing anyone? In fact, just about everything Jesus spoke about revolved around love and service, concepts that seem to be lost on the politcal right.
If anyone claims to be Christian and for the war, I have to believe they are being hypocritical.......

On a bumper sticker I saw yesterday.
The Christian religion was founded on violence. Control is maintained by violence or threat of violence, think hell. Think Racism. Think Abortion Clinics. Think War.
Their invisible cloud god is so impotent, he can't do his own dirty work.

If there were really a omnipotent being, don't yacha think he could do the death and destruction bit by himself? And thereby spare his creation from damnation for breaking his Commandments?
I don't think I want to be in his Heaven.

that we should kill them all in Iraq, men, women, children, it does not matter.

I got sick of hearing his shit and when he started that crap last time I handed him Army enlistment papers and said "here's your chance to live what your mouth spews."

He has been quiet as a mouse since.
