A letter from one of my co-workers to his republican relatives
Dear Mom, Dad, Joel, Keirstn, Tricia & Rob,

Please look into issues you're concerned about and consider voting (as moderate republicans like former long-time governor of Michigan, Milliken, are voting) for John Kerry this election. Look at Bush's record on the national debt (rising surpluses to massive and deepening deficits), environment (destroying ecosystems and the heritage of future generations to make a few unprogressive individuals rich), rule of law & science (ignoring both to suit needs of big donors), 9-11 ("Bozo the Clown could have united New York after 9-11" -Al Sharpton), the economy (enough said), the war (hundreds of billions spent & lives given to make Iraq safe for Haliburton Oil Co. & a few select others), energy policy (socialist style subsidies for dying industries & Enron, snuffing out of technological innovation & entrepreneurs in alternative energy, and secret meetings of Cheney's "energy task force"), foreign policy (we reject international agreements (Geneva conventions, for instance), and are hated around the world), . . . you will be unpleasantly shocked the more you look into Bush's policies!!!

"Remember when Republicans stood for fiscal responsibility, not recklessness? Barely. I remember election night 1980 - I was bummed that Ronnie won, but I figured he'd do something to get rid of the deficit that was in the then obscene 50-80 billion dollar range. Soon we had hundred billion dollar (and more) deficits every year. After a decade of Republican Presidents Clinton found enough people in Congress willing to join him in being responsible and got rid of the deficits. Bush comes in and finds enough members of Congress eager to be irresponsible and the deficits are back, larger than ever." -Dan Gilmor

I've voted Republican in the past, up until the past eight years or so, and I am horrified at what Bush has been doing to this country. My vote in Wyoming won't count since Wyoming is very conservative, but you all, being in swing states, can make a difference. Please, please, think (unlike Rush Limbaugh) about the vote you will cast!!!

Matt

P.S. Tricia & Rob, please tell me about New Zealand when you get some time.

I hope lots of people are sending out emails like this! I have tried and tried with my republican friend, and it has gotten to the point where we just can't talk to eachother anymore.
