It's been a wild day -- a Democratic rally in ultra-conservative Lancaster, PA, featuring outstanding speeches by Gov. Ed Rendell, Valerie Harper ("Rhoda"!), Carole King and Rob Reiner. They had the place rockin' for Kerry. (Finally got my bumper sticker ripped off my vehicle in the parking lot, though, by some little Bush turd. But no matter ... I've got spares!)
Then, tonight, was the final Lancaster, PA, Kerry Meetup before the election. We had lots of inspiring speeches -- both about the election in five days, and how to keep the momentum going after the General Election (future races for city council, mayor, supervisor, etc.; reviving a women's Democratic club in the area -- lots of ideas). Lot of cheering, a few tears (while reminiscing about some horrible things said to us by local Rethugs, and thinking of just how desperately we need Kerry in office). Two Mac computers running a slideshow of all the Democratic rallies we've had or attended in the region -- trip down memory lane.
We really psyched ourselves up for the hard work of the weekend. Talked, very specifically, about polling methods and why the major corporate polls are bullshit. It's the Get Out The Vote that matters!
We made sure everyone had something to do for the campaign this weekend.
It's gonna be a wild weekend and a wild Election Day, and when I hear "President-Elect Kerry," I'm gonna sleep for a week! With a big ole SMILE on my face.
