Could Bush win the popular vote and Kerry the electoral college? |
|
I would laugh and laugh and laugh. It would be such sweet vengeance for 2000.

but I want Kerry to win with the majority of votes, so we can avoid what happened last time around. We don't need that kind of stigma.

Clinton never got over 47% of the vote and he was one of the most popular presidents ever.

more people voted for the other two guys then voted for him. Didn't effect his ability to govern one iota.

a repeat of 1960. Razor RAZOR thin popular vote, but overwhelming EC victory as Kerry takes Ohio and Florida.

6. Actually, this was the predicted scenario in 2000 |
|
Bush was BELIEVED by the Bush camp to win the popular vote, but lose the electoral college. They PLANNED for this. There were even protests planned in Texas to decry the outmoded Electoral college system, which were abruptly cancelled when John Ellis did his bit. All that self-righteous talk about "We respect THE LAW!" was pure BS -- they had every intent to disrespect whatever law stood in their way, and they intend to do so this year.
IF Kerry does the electoral college win, you can bank on the Bushistas calling for the voice of the people to be heard, and denunciation of the electoral college -- despite what they said last time.
Hey -- they get away with this shit, so what's to stop them?

10. I felt that way up until about monday night... |
|
And then it all started to look as if Kerry was going to win both...
And the more I think about it, he will probably win by a wider margin than anyone thought, 2-2.5 million in the popular and somewhere in the vicinity of 290-248.....

The only way Bush would win the popular vote is if they throw out enough ballots, iow massive voter fraud. there is no other way.

12. Al Franken said last night |

he thinks the pop vote will be a tie and Kerry will win the electoral. I really think Kery will win both by a nice margin.

I consider that to be a plausible scenario. I think if the election is decided by 1 % either way, then there's a chance the popular and electoral votes won't coincide.

But why anyone would wish that on Kerry.. is a mystery. We want a mandate to govern, not a squeaker election that will rally the Repubs in opposition to a President Kerry.

15. Bush will NOT win the popular vote ... |
|
..unless all those new registrants are people who are THRILLED about the Iraq war!!!!
We all know the polls are schewed againt Kerry because of the new voters. When the popular vote is counted, it won't be within 5% !!!!
No, we should still be SERIOUSLY concerned about the Electoral college and getting all our voters out on Nov 2!!!!! We also have to fight like crazy to make sure they can vote once they reach the polls (if they can find them after the Republicans shuffle them around!!!)
