"Change is in the air" - Dan Rather, Election night, 1992
Edited on Fri Oct-29-04 02:46 AM by PCIntern
This was Kerry's October Surprise - scandals exploding in the week before election day, the Red Sox-his home town team, winning eight straight games - wotta metaphor - the collapse of the Rovian machine - and the Nightmare that is Iraq.

I have never felt energy like this prior to an election day - most people I know who are aware of the process are having problems sleeping and eating. This is the time we put the pedal down to the floor - no prisoners, no compromises, and as Elliot Ness said all those years go: "No Deals".

1. Sleep? Eat?
We're all gonna end up with the flu. But it will be a happy flu.

12. Right.
We'll all end up sick. But it doesn't matter. Let's go into hyperdrive, and take this thing. This is no time to let up. If we lose sleep, so be it. Generals don't sleep during a battle, and we are in a battle.

13. I'll never forget this week
Edited on Fri Oct-29-04 03:18 AM by RummyTheDummy
My wife and I bought our first home. We're taking our country back and it's unfolding before our very eyes. A week of monumental change for our country and myself.

And between it all, I can't sleep a wink. Hopefully I can just focus on football this weekend and get some rest for the home stretch.

14. Congratulations on your home to
both you and your bride...

This is bettern' football - even Eagles football, my friend. This is the real game - the one which all the other organized athletics are the metaphor for.

We are surging in the 4th Quarter, the bases are loaded, our perimeter shooting is draining threes, and we are on Power Play advantage.

16. Thanks
In football terms, I equate the Kerry campaign with the 2001 Pats. Against all odds, when nobody said they would win, they prevailed. Just a hard working bunch of blue collar players.

17. ...and if my Eagles could've gotten past the
stupid Championship game, which they never seem to show up for, they'd have done a job on your Patriots.

Just kidding of course... effing Eagles.

But we'll see you this year in the Bowl!

I think you're right. And I love the Eagles, so that would be some consolation should the Pats fall.

5. Too damn much history in the way
Until the days of Bill Clinton, the media coverage had always had some respect for the commander-in-chief. Since they pulled the gloves off and started taking low blows, people have really begun to question what is said in the news organizations and spin cults that have cropped up over the last 12 years. The most important tool, however, is the video expose pioneered by such people as Michael Moore. The fact that we have unbiased witnesses (video cameras and film archives) now is the final stop block to the harsh revisionism we've seen in the years of Bush. One thing is certain: we will never go back to the President-on-a-pedestal days of old, and our politicians will be treated like criminal suspects while in office, regardless of affiliation.

6. Right you are...
but they're also treating the candidates that way too. Didja see Brokaw sneering at Kerry last night? unbelievable.

8. I saw it
God, he sounded obnoxious. His replacement's even worse - Brian Williams. That ass hole was on some talk show claiming Kerry got his ass kicked in the second debate.

I want to see the whores spin it when Bush leaves.

10. Brian Williams was here in Philly for a while
and has that snotty delivery which is arguably worse than Brokaw's speech impediment. He's a RWer and was one fo the chief architiects of the Jack welch campaign to install * in 2000.

They're all gonna be awfully upset Tuesday Night, methinks.

7. I agree- No deals
prison time for corrupt former officials who the new AG can prove violated the law. If we have to let a couple of little fish off, fine... but the big fish must either get pardoned or face justice.
